Resolution for different Monitors -...

I created my website.....everything is perfect.....I uploaded it and went to my domain....still everything perfect......my wife goes to the page and the format is all screwed up. I have a normal computer and monitor and use 1024 x 768 resolution with the latest version of IE. I have also tested it with Firefox. On my computer everything is perfect. On my wifes computer, it's all eskew. My wife uses a widescreen laptop. That seems like that is what the problem is, but she doesn't have problems with the format of any other website. Can anyone tell me, what could possibly make my website so messed up on her computer? And how can I fix my website so the format always stays the same regardless of who's looking at it? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Tom, the home page looks good. Here is a screenshot from my notebook http://www.rivertime.net/temp/cov.jpg
If you want it centered use a table to put all your stuff in and then align is centred.

Your demo and contact page are off to the right. I think it is this code causing problems. <IMG [colr=red]style="Z-INDEX: 100; LEFT: 20px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: -12px" height=150 alt="" src="TGG waveform.jpg"[\color] width=150 border=0><IMG style="Z-INDEX: 100; LEFT: 811px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: -7px" height=150 alt="" src="TGG waveform.jpg" width=150 border=0><font size="7"><font color="#ff0000">
Try editing this to fix it.

Thank you Kim.....I appreciate you taking the time to analyze this for me. I'm glad at least the home page looked right on your machine. Even that page is messed up on my wife's machine. I will use your suggestion and see if I can fix this......thanks again Kim

If your site uses CSS pop the whole lot in a div with a width and align setting - an alternative to tables...

Thank you Eskil and Fe. This is the first website I've ever created. I have no experience with HTML or building websites. CoffeeCup made it as easy as it could possibly be for someone like me that doesn't know the first thing about how to do this. Getting the hang of using Flash movies in my site was the trickiest part. Anyway, I would love to use the table idea but I have no idea how to do that. Do I have to start my webpage from scratch, and build it using a table? or do I take the existing site and somehow convert it using a table? Last night, I started a new webpage and before I did anything to it, I inserted "table designer". When the table came up I started putting all of my content in the cells. When it was perfect, I saved it as an html file, but when I open it now, it just has a couple small lines of number text and that's all....no webpage or content or anything. How do you use tables and then make it your webpage?
I know this is a long post....I'm sorry....I'm as new to this as it gets!
hahahaha....thank you all for your kindness in helping me.

OH....how do you add a media file into a table? I couldn't figure out
how to add the .swf movie file that is used on the main page, into the table....it only gives you the option to insert an image file.

Thanks again Kim.....wow, you have been very helpful. This is a stupid question, but in your above post, You said this is the quick way....quick way to fix which issue? hahahaha What is this accomplishing when I add the red code and take out the blue code? Is this related to my table question or is this how to fix the problem of format when viewed by widescreen? I really appreciate all your help....I'm sorry I'm not smarter on this subject.

Now I couldn't be absolutely sure, but it looks to me as if Kim has just taken your page of code and tidied it up for you. So try just copying what she has done here, and pasting it into a clean white page in your HTML Editor, then look at the results in your browser.
It might make it a little clearer to you.........
Janys
ps
It would seem that she is suggesting that you add (leave in the code she has done) what is written in red, but go take out what she has highlighted in blue. So once you have pasted in the code to the clean page, go look for the blue code and remove it.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
