Re-sizing a graphic or image - Post...

This may seem stupid, but I can't seem to figure out how to use the anchor points on the corners of an image to re-size a graphic or image while still maintaining it's aspect ratio. Please help! The program will let me alter it on top and sides, but that distorts the image. The corner points only rotate the image. Just getting started, so I am getting the basics here.

Thanks!!

The top, bottom and sides are the only way to do it, but hold the shift key while dragging them.

Hiya Jennifer,

I'm going to assume, by how you worded your situation, that you are using Visual Site Designer with this image issue? If not please let me know, but here's what is better to do.

Adjust your images outside of the program(s) for almost any program you use because you will have a much nicer image if you do, quality wise. When you start trying to stretch it in the program you are always going to end up with distorted. If you have this image in a larger format to work with then you should try working with it in an image editor. Even enlarging it in an image editor gives you a little better quality than using the website editor does, after all it's a website builder/editor not an image program so it's not very smart about photos hehe.

Thank you Cary and Jo Ann!!! I appreciate your help!

Jo Ann, I am trying to make them smaller in every instance,so is it safe to re-size them within Visual Site Designer? Thanks again!

Another Question -

In Visual Site Designer, if the amount of body/content text I would like to include on a page is larger than the page, how can I get it to create a scroll bar on the side to allow for all of the text/copy without re-sizing the page itself? Is this possible? If not, any suggestion? Thanks!!

Hiya Jennifer,

It's best always to have your images the right size before you add them to your site, but... going smaller is usually not quite as bad to resize in VSD as going larger is, it all depends on how much smaller you're talking about. Image editors like paint shop pro or photo shop have tools that allow you to clarify things if they get blurry and things like that which always helps when you are resizing. You'll be able to tell more after you resize it if it's distorted looking or not. If so, give outside editing of the image a try :)

No answer on the larger page sorry, I don't use VSD myself, but I'm sure someone will have an answer for you :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
