BTW, I actually like your site as it is now with exception to the way you have your Portfolio images setup. I really really despise things that resize my browser on me and make me have to keep re-maximizing it. Anything like that that messes with my browser is irritating for that matter lol. I would suggest setting up a less intrusive gallery. Other than that it's actually quite nice. Love the rollover of the menu and the photos, works well together.

I quite like the way the larger image comes up in a separate pop-up window, which automatically resizes to the image. That way it does not mess with the original browser window at all. At least in Chrome 4.0 it works very well and looks good!

Doesn't do a separate popup for me, and I'm sure it's because of my settings on my browser that forces popups to open in a new tab rather than window *hates popups with a passion*, so instead of opening a popup it's totally resizing my entire browser window, very annoying lol.

Yes, I can appreciate that irritation! I'm not sure what browser setting would do that for you. I tried it in my version of FF (3.5.7) and I got a separate pop-up window there, just as in Chrome.

I use an addon called Tab Mix Pro which gives you a whole lot more control over your settings for tabbed browsing. In there I can tell it exactly what I want it to do so I told it to:
* never open popups or popunders in separate windows, open them only in new tabs (this keeps the scammers & spammers from hiding them from me in the background lol)
* never open blank pages

and lots of other things. These settings for sure are what is making it keep the popup from happening, I guess I have to go in and make sure that they can't resize the window either which I usually have that turned off too and forgot.

Thanks for all the comments. I guess I will go with the editor and style sheets....and see what happens. I like the idea of copying the old site.
Also, thanks for the good feedback on the existing site. It is my goal to basically copy it, but change the background now that I have a new logo and corporate colors. I hope I can duplicate the good things on the existing site.

Right choice, - I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
Your existing site looks very good by the way, so I'd suggest you keep a backup copy of the entire site with images and all those other files - just in case you'll need it at some point.

When designing a new site for a paying customer do they have to buy your software to edit their website or do you not recommend they have editing ability? If so what rights have to be purchased and what are the costs?
Thanks

You have a lot of questions in your post, I will try to address them all for you.
1. editing: it depends on the type of software you are using. If you are building a store for them, then they will have to purchase the shopping cart program as well. However, if you are just building a website and you are using the html editor, then they can edit whatever they want using whatever editor they want. Although, I don't suggest it. I try to do as much of the editing for my clients as possible because I don't want them to screw anything up (which I will have to fix) and most importantly, I want to be able to create a loyal customer base. I want them to think they need me.

2. Rights: Here I am assuming your referring to rights related to content and design. This is more tricky. What I do, is I designate the copyright notice for the client and hold all rights to the site to my development company.

3. Costs: Cost is also tricky, but a good cost formula will make or break your business. I would be happy to email you in regards to this, but do not want to post this information in the forum. I also don't want my email on the forum. So if you are interested go to my website at www.innovatewebdevelopment.com and click contact us. In the message field tell me who you are so I remember your post and I would be happy to talk to you about pricing.

Hope this helps.

If you are referring to CC software, if they want to use it to edit their site, then yes they have to purchase (from CC). If you make a storefront for them using CC SCC then you would need to edit/update it for them, or they would NEED to purchase SCC themselves. If you are talking about generic HTML site pages, then any ol' text editor would do (technically). If you want to maintain control, or they don't want to edit, then no they wouldn't need the software. And it really depends, on their abilities, your willingness to fix their booboo's, etc...
