A friend has asked me to create a website for a friend, I have already done one for them www.marshfieldelectric.co, using HTML Editor. Now they asked me to design a site that you can post stuff as in a blog and have a picture slideshow at the bottom. Kind of like this www.nrahuntersrights.org (I believe that is the right site). I'm new to coding and can understand it if I see the context in which it is used. Is there a theme or someway that I could learn to make such a site?

Thanks :)

Wordpress, and there are free templates everywhere but I recommend paying a little and getting a much better supported template from:

http://www.elegantthemes.com/

or

http://themeforest.net/

Wordpress has one of the most intuitive user interfaces I have ever seen in my life, you literally just drag and drop your widgets around in the control panel, and the themes are easy to install also. Not that I'm trying to turn you away from Coffee Cup, but their blogging software doesn't allow comments so Wordpress is really the way to go on this one.

Cheers!

Who is supposed to post the blog entries? The friend of your friend?

Normally I would say use WordPress, which is a CMS for blogging, but CoffeeCup has this VSD connected to an 'S-drive' where you can post from anywhere. The VSD users here will probably soon chime in with their better qualified advice.

But if you are going for VSD, the one who is supposed to post in the blog also needs to buy a copy of VSD and set up the S-drive connection.

This easy S-drive facility is supposed to work with the HTML Editor too, but they are not that far yet.

The slide show can be achieved with either CC Photo Gallery or CC Fire Starter.

Well, actually, I don't want to have one compete against the other. I know too little about S-Drive as of yet to be of any help. I'm a coder and am waiting for the S.Drive being able to handle HTML Editor. Then I can allow myself to have an opinion :P

This whole S-Drive thing, incorporated into VSD and other CC apps, is going to take CC and folks who want to easily and cheaply manage their websites to a whole new level.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

Well, ...cough....cough..I looked at the example Colton gave and Stream is not going to give you a complete website. At least not yet. But I think you could incorporate stream into smf and have something similar. Stream has the advantage be able to post from a lot of venues. I guess it comes down to how the rest of the website is to function.:)
