Integrating VSD with HTML Editor -...

Hey I am posting here because the question doesn't have as much to do with either of the software's mentioned, as much it is a general question about the nature of HTML.

If I create a web site in Visual Site Designer, and then cut and paste the code into CC's HTML Editor program, would there be anything keeping me from updating the site in HTML Editor on an ongoing basis?

I realize that the code could never be imported back into VSD. But would the HTML work fine in HTML Editor, or does VSD have it's own "special sauce" that would make it hard to edit the raw html?

Here is a little context: I want to CREATE web sites in VSD, and then hand them off to an HTML coder to take them from there. The site will never need to be updated in VSD. I only use VSD to initially create the site, and after that I don't need it anymore.

I like to create my clients site's because, since I am the one selling the design services to them I know exactly what they want. But I don't have time to maintain all my clients site's so I want to hire a staff person to do the updates using raw html coding.

I hope this makes sense...

Chad - I see NO reason why you would have any problems creating a site in VSD and maintaining/improving the individual .html files in the HTML Editor. Since you already mentioned the fact that VSD would be unable to process the 'changed' pages further, I think you're ok.

Glad you asked this, Chad!
I was just wondering if I could do this - thought it might make a transition to the html editor easier. :)

That is one way of looking at it. It would at least give you a 'reference point', kind of like looking at others sites/code and figuring out what they did and where (one may never know why).

Be careful that you don't get tempted, while using HTML Editor, to switch from Visual to Coder tabs/mode... Doing so WILL change things within your code, and could make your page look pretty bizarre. This IS NOT a bug (although not a feature either), it is just the way it is. Think of them as two separate programs put together under the same roof for the price of one :D.

Also guys, there's an easier way to get the code from the VSD to your HTML editor. You can export the site from VSD to a folder in your computer rather than having to copy the code out of VSD. This will create all the same files that it would usually upload to your site and this gives you all the HTML files etc. as well as the completed structure to start working with. Have fun with it :)
