I must be totally missing the point here, but why not just use the full URL of your site and not worry about if it's just / or ./ or whatever. Just use the full .com with no slashes at all. Takes care of any problems with page setups and Google likes it too from what I've read. Just smack me if I'm not understanding what's going on here lol
