Importing tif files-I get an error? -...

I have a tif file I want to use, the picture tool icon gives me the error "picture is not a correct image file". Since tif's are common file formats, somewhere I must be doing something wrong or am I missing a plug in?

Any advice?

Images for the web should be JPEG, GIF or PNG, so just convert it to one of those and you should be fine.

Thank you Cary...I tried all of them. But to no avail. I was told the opaque file that I want to use, needed to created, since coffeecup could not do it. So, I did... and it needed to be a tif because it is the only format that allows you the opaque/transparancy I need. But, it doesn't like it. Ugggg.....I'm frustrated.

I like the software, but it seems to be lacking in some of the simple tools I need.

I'll try any other ideas :)

Thanks

Do you have Photoshop or something similar? You could make a copy (save your original), then re-size if needed (TIFFs can be huge files), then save as a Photoshop document (PSD). Next, choose save for web and then PNG 24 if you need to have transparency.
TIFFs are usually for print, it's not just CC software that doesn't support them:

32 bit PNG will allow transparency (24 bit color + 8 bit alpha transparency).
