Coffeecup is an easy program for us non-nerds to use to design a website, but publishing it to the web? HA!

I want my money back. I would have done better working my way through the maze of code with Dreamweaver.

I have a yahoo business account and none of the pages I designed show up. In the first place, I can't tell how to set up the link. HTML? PHP? some godawful longassed address? Where does it go? And yes, I followed the guide book.

If they do show up, and I don't get a broken link, all I get is a white page.

Fortunately, I'm not making any money off this website. It's just a writer's rants.

But seriously, in the future, make publishing easier.

I'm off to do it the old fashioned way, coding my own HTML and running it through an FTP program.

Nathan, I'm sure there's an simple explanation why your having trouble uploading your site. Can you share a link to where your index page so we can see it. Can you tell us what is suppose to be on the page?:) Also what CC program are you using to publish your site?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Nathan I just looked up your account and you have never opened a support ticket with us for help. If you find using Visual Site Designer so difficult, tell us what the issue is and we will try to help. Although I am not sure how much easier we can make that program to use. ;)

I did read the manual. It didn't help.

I can help you Nathan. Are you trying to publish to S-Drive or a different host?

I've been with Yahoo for years (too many), anyway... before you publish from VSD or anywhere else, go to your account control panel and take a look at the files on your server. You need to make sure there's a blank index page there or your site files could end up in another level/sub-directory. As long as the index page is there and you have named your site's main page 'index.html', it should be fine.
The support team can help you get it sorted if you put in a request for help :)

Okay.

Sorry I went off. But after six hours of trying to publish my pages, I was pulling my hair out and had to have a few drinks. Literally. It probably also didn't help that I just quit smoking.

Finally got it to work. I stopped trying to follow the manual, sat back, looked at the server and what the links were trying to do and noticed patterns. That told me what to tweak using Yahoo's HTML editor. It worked fine after that.

Perhaps the problem is that the manual is TOO easy. It isn't designed for people who have done their own hard coding. I've hard coded webpages since 1995 (and worked with C++ and FilePro for a UNIX platform) and I'm just tired of doing it. This sounded like a great option for a 40-something who's lazy now and who's eyes are iffy. Really, it is a wonderful design program and now that I figured out how to tweak the pages on the server to connect them, I'll give it another try.

What I can't forgive is the email I received from someone in customer service or administration. It simply said "Read the manual!"

I don't appreciate that type of condescending and self-righteous attitude. I was having severe problems and needed help. The people here on the forum were great! But that one guy -- whoever he is, he is your worst asset. People like me talk to their friends and make recommendations. Whoever that is may have just cost you some potential customers.

Nathan, Keep in mind that every time you make a change to your site that VSD will over write you code tweaking. There really has to be a FTP setting that's causing the links to be wrong. Can you share a link to the pages so I can look at them.:)

We did not send you any e-mail Nathan. If you got an e-mail from someone at CoffeeCup Software, it would come from one of our personal addresses.

Nathan, I bet Scott would love to read the email you received from a CC person.
If'n I was you, I'd forward it to him.
And I'm sure he'd go have some one on one time with whomever that was.
Just my 2 cents, but with today's market, it's probably not even worth a penny :|
