Has anybody yet used IE9 and had any problems?

I looked at my websites (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/johnfairweather/) using IE9 and some of the fonts looked quite different from that, using IE8 - quite bold. Any ideas why this should be?

I would not touch IE9.. not until they got out all the bugs and then I would only use it to check websites I build. Presently I check any websites done by me with IE8, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera. For everyday use I use Firefox.

My advice get rid of IE9 and move to Firefox.

When I first saw my sight in IE9 I about gagged :o
If you built your site with Visual Site Designer, download the latest build (VSD 7.19) and that should take care of it. :D

I feel sorry for those in the IE world, shame, shame.
I never even check pages with IE any more it since it's outdated and firefox is the lead browser.
Firefox should be the default browser for windows, someday they will get it fixed.

IE outdated? Have you been smoking?

"Update to the newest version of VSD and that should fix the problem."

Doesn't sound like an IE issue to me.

IE9 was just released - about the same time as FF4. Besides - there's too many people out there that think IE is the internet  Although I mainly use FF, I always check to see how things look in IE 7/8/9, Opera, Chrome and Safari. Have to draw the line at IE6, though.

I have news for FF users who trash talk IE. Get real and check the security bulletins. :)

If you are still using any browser that is more than 1 revision old, you deserve what you get.

My biggest complaint (and subsequent resistance) toward IEx has been Microsofts REFUSAL to conform to the standards set by w3c, as well as the insistence of forcing IE onto Windows users as the initial default browser. Of course they have gotten 'better' about meeting the standards, and now 'more' pages render 'more' properly. BUT we have all suffered, at least to some degree, for their rebellion.

I agree with standards but I disagree with the initial browser part. I think that was a big load of politics. You're free to install and use what you want and if you are ignorant to that fact, oh well.

Tom - I know that you are free to install and use whatever you want... BUT there were a number of clients of mine in the past, that did not realize this, until I got ahold of them :)... One of the first things I do on ANY Windows based system is download FF and other browsers. FF being my day to day go to browser, the others are their for occasional use/testing only. Considering that Microsoft doesn't 'make any $' directly from having IE installed/active upon initial use of a computer, they could (and maybe should) allow FF, Chrome, etc to have equal space on a new computer. Then they could truly say that they aren't 'forcing' anyone to use their browser.
