I also don't believe that has anything to do with saving "in" the documents themselves. I think it has to do with actively using the feature being the way to save it. That means, when you actually use it, that's when it saves the words you add/remove/etc. I've been up and down in like 5 different ways trying to break it, and believe me you ALL know if it can break I'll do it LOL. It didn't break.
@Guy: It's working fine, no worries ok? Just be sure you're actually "using" the feature rather than "inputting" to it. There may be a reason it's this way and may not be, but whatever the situation, it's working just fine, you will just need to use it rather than setting it up ahead of time. Really isn't a big deal or even much of an inconvenience is it? It's actually easier if you ask me
