How do I make an image expand when...
Hi all, I am an almost novice at html/web design and have only basically edited my website, I want to know how to add images that will expand when a cursor is rolled over it.
Thanks
Thanks
Karl,
If you are using VSD there's no easy way to accomplish that effect. The way VSD creates mouse over effects requires both images to be the same size. You can cheat by adding transparent fill around the outside of the smaller image so it ends up the same size as the larger, but then the larger one would probably show through anyway.
Unless you'd like to learn how to code this kind of effect yourself and integrate it into the web page either as an HTML object (in VSD) or using HTML Editor, I think your best bet is to find a software package that creates this kind of effect and that can generate the code for you to insert into the page.

I have HTML editor, and I am quite prepared to give it a go, but I just dont know what the proper terminology is to search for it.
What i am after is putting some thumbnails on the page and having them expand when you roll over it.
Thanks for the answer

I think the key words you want are "popup" and "rollover." I don't know how to code them, myself, but here are a couple of interesting links I got after a bit of Googling:

There are some HTML gurus about, maybe one of them will chime in with more concrete examples.

Karl,
Something like a 50px by 50px thumbnail that expands to a 480 x 320 image?
Try looking on dynamic drive for thumbnail viewers. http://www.dynamicDrive.com

Hi Bill
Yeah, something like that. To be honest what I would like to do is but some gifs on my site that when people rollover them it displays another image that is a review of my rental property

I use the Thumbnail2 to display some photos. I think it has the ability to specify the thumbnail image and the display image, so you could have a different thumbnail pointing to something else. You can also set it up so that a click on the thumbnail or image will take you to a different web page.
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
