I am a total newbie here, so please bare with me.... My website was created by a friend using Frontpage and is in need of a major overhaul. Is it possible to load my website into VSD and how do I go about doing this?

You're not able to do that with VSD,
VSD is a wysiwyg program that writes and reads only it's own code.

Just recreate your site using VSD. It's easy to use and you'll have a better site up in no time.
