Hosting Transfer Questions

I am looking to move my Coffeecup website from one hosting company to another. I have decided to just change the names servers and keep my registration with my original registrar. Seems pretty straight forward on the website transfer, but I have a question about email. I'd like to keep the same email address. If I setup my domain under the new company and setup a new email account with my old email address, will the mail automatically redirect once the names servers have propagated? I guess I will have to check the pop servers on my old service for a few days, but the new mail will go to the new pop servers on my new hosting service, right? Nothing else I need to do???

Thanks,

Email will be delivered to the domain pointed to by the DNS, meaning that it will received at the new web hosting service after the change has propagated. The propagation time has been greatly reduced in recent years, so it should be a fairly quick process. (hours vs days)

In order to reduce the possibility that you'll miss something at the old web host, you could set up a forwarder from there to a different address, say one at Gmail or Yahoo. Once the domain name has propagated, you'll only have access to your email account on the previous host by logging in using the IP address or, maybe, the host's control panel application.

Thanks for the info Shunned. Good idea on the forwarding. I think I will do that before transfering the mail.

Thanks again!
