Help on registration form & payment...

I inherited maintenance of a site for a church that was developed in Coffee Cup. So far I've been able to make the various simple updates requested of me, but I've been asked for a new feature and would appreciate someone outlining for me how best to do it (keeping in mind that I have minimal knowledge thus far and need a very elementary, step-by-step explanation). We would like to collect registration information and payment for occasional events if possible. At present, we provide links to PDF forms that registrants can print out and mail in with a check; however, we would like to offer the option of taking care of it all online. I envision somehow combining "form builder" with Paypal (we have recently set up a Paypal merchant account so can receive payments). Do I need the Shopping Cart module? From what I can tell it seems the features of Shopping Cart are geared more toward merchant product sales, whereas I'm just interested in allowing a person to register and pay for an event. Hope this makes sense. Can anyone help me out with an overall approach? Thank you.

I haven't done exactly what you want, but maybe close.

I built a membership form. After the form is completed, and the submit button is pressed the "thank you" page shows up with a PayPal button.

The membership information is emailed to the same person that gets the PayPal information. Both should arrive at about the same time.

Another option I have seen is to use a registration service, but that is likely to cost more than the PayPal fees.

Hope this helps give you some ideas.

Thank you Bill. Let me make sure I understand: I could build one page and include a registration form on it (built with formbuilder). Design submit button on registation form to email completed form AND also direct to another page which has Paypal button on it? So conceivably they could submit the form without paying...I guess that's not so bad--we'd know if they didn't pay if we didn't receive Paypal confirmation. Ideally I was hoping for a way to somehow integrate the Paypal button with the form, i.e., the form is only emailed if they do in fact pay, and also avoid payee having to enter their name and address twice (once for reg. form, once for Paypal). But this is probably a "good enough" solution for the low-volume, only-occasional usage this feature would get. Do you have a current page that does this and if so can you post a link to it so I can see it? Thanks again.

The form I described is located at http://www.brighterdaycharities.org/for … ership.php

If you look at the web form builder on the right side is a Form settings box. The top item is configure form settings, and to the right is an envelope icon. Click that Icon.

The form settings window is now open and if you click on the second tab (form submission) and look on the left side, you will see a radio button labeled redirect to website address. Click that button and enter the URL of the thankyou page with the button. The thankyou page for this form is located at http://www.brighterdaycharities.org/pages/thank_you.php

Hope that helps.

I've used a very challanging form for dog show entries for a dog club I do work for. This form collects many lines of info, allows categories of classes, and specific class entries. It has worked flawlessly for 2 years and I highly recommend it for anyone who is not .php or .asp proficient. It is a very good replacement for the old front page forms!

"Submit" redirects to a Thank you and Paypal link. (It used to link directly to Paypal but seemed to stall occassionally. Since going to the interim page, it has worked flawlessly.

The Paypal link redirects to the Paypal card with Catagory and drop down class payments.

Works just GREAT! Coffee Cup to the rescue after migrating away from Front Page server extensions!
