I read another thread (that Inger posted), and in conjunction with this thread I do not think I will be recommending them any longer. I just do not trust them. It also gives a lot of credibility to the nodaddy.com website as well. U all should take a look at that - especially if you have godaddy.

We have more ambassadors and advisors doing hosting. And they are not evil either ;)

Man, that's a can of worms I just haven't had the guts to open. I have a great host provider who's cheap, rock-solid, and uses all standard *nix servers with all the bells and whistles and all the fun stuff enabled. I've never had issues with them in the seven years I've used them, and I steer every web client to them because I know what I'll encounter when I start setting them up--everything will work out of the box.

I'm with aussiehost.com and they are great. Put a support ticket in earlier and had a reply in 16 minutes with the solution. Always very helpful.

More than I can say for the domain registrar that will take 24-48 hours to point to my new server!

how about those here who do hosting put something in their signatures so we can go sticky...
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

That can be a pain, but is completely normal. It has to do with propagation and how long it takes for the domain to be "seen" from point to point. Can have something to do with how far you are from the server, as well. I seem to have good luck getting my sites visible to me very quickly after I point the DNS...but they may not be visible to you or others for that pesky 24 to 48 hours based on your distance, and, well, the fact you are hanging on to the earth down there in upsy-downsy land (jk :) )

One of my hosters arranged a domain name for me, but I found out it was registered in their name not mine, even though I paid for it myself.
Since then I found out that other site owners in Australia and the UK had the same problem (if it IS a problem) with the organisation that registered their domain names.
So is this practice common?

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
