the blanklines are not present in the html markup, but after uploading and viewing online they appear...viewing the source shows there are blank lines in the file but they weren't there when I created and saved the file!

blank lines appearing

no blank lines (as it should be)

I can't figure out why it's happening! Help?

<pre> tags mean preformatted (if that's a word). I looked at the source of your "blank lines appearing" page and saw in fact blank lines in between your text. Since you're wrapping this text in <pre> tags, that's exactly how it will appear. In essence wrapping your text in <pre> tags means, "Just display this text. Don't do any formatting, I have already formatted it."

Good luck.
Let's not get all hurt.

Thanks David

As stated in my original post, my original source document does NOT have the blank lines between the text - the blank lines appearing after I upload the file.

Earlier it was the DFTP that used to insert blank lines into a document. I thought that had been fixed, but maybe not. Do you see any blank lines anywhere else in your document?

actually I should say other blank lines ARE appearing in the code BUT only the ones between the <pre></pre> tags are affecting the webview as you'd expect...

Then my guess is that it happens during the uploading process. I think you ought to get in touch with the CC support. It should be a known problem to them.

OR, you can upload using Filezilla.

Thanks Inger

I'll speak to CC as I would prefer to stick with the software I have pruchased to do the job than to use another program.

I've successfully loaded the file as it is using Filezilla so it looks like it is indeed something wrong with the FTP via the HTML Editor

You may want to open a ticket to report that issue so they know it's still prevalent. I'm aware that they are currently working on the Direct FTP program for other reasons, but maybe this is something they can look into also while they have it on the table? Can't hurt to let em know :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
