Editing a CC Website in Dreamweaver -...

This may be a silly question, but can a site I build using CC HTML editor be edited in Dreamweaver?

Also, will all of the apps that I have from CC work ie webinsite, ecommerce, web form builder and templates etc work?

The reason I ask, is that I have been asked to design and build a site for a friends company, however they have dreamweaver already as part of thier design package, but the girl who will look after the site is just starting to learn it and they want the site to be up and running fairly soon. I dont want to buy dreamweaver as 1. I dont have the cash to splash at this time and 2. I dont want to have to spend ages learning someting new for the same results.

Many thanks

I don't think your going to want to do that as Dream weaver uses it's own special proprietary code to render pages. I bet you can use chunks of code from the html editor without problems.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

You can open pages and scripts and everything will work in Dreamweaver same as in HTML Editor, but very expensively and to be honest, if you don't have a real "need" to spend that extra cash, and if you don't think you will be using it after the purchase, I wouldn't bother.

You should be able to do any changes and any work needed in the HTML Editor just as easily. The only issue you will find is if the site requires you to start using Libraries and such. If that is the case then you will need Dreamweaver as it's an internal code setup similar to what Eric was saying.

Either way you can do any site with either of the programs other than those special circumstances such as Libraries.

Also, the learning curve for Dreamweaver is much slower than the HTML Editor due to the different features available, so it also depends on just how fast they want this done, or if they want 2 people learning the software and making it take more time to get up and running. :)

Eric and Jo thanks for the reply.

Jo Ann I think you have the wrong end of the stick, I have CC HTML editor and am very happy with it. My friends company is an architectural firm and have Dreamweaver as part of their design package. I have no intention of either buying or going to their office to use Dreamweaver....or spend time learning how to use it.

They obviously don't want to spend money on something they already have, so I think we may be at a stalemate. He only asked as his it came up in conversation and he pointed him to some of the sites I have designed in the past few months...and liked them.

I'll see what they say and how they want to play it.

Ah I see, I wasn't sure on whether you were thinking of getting it or not, so that's clear now, but... all the rest of what I said still holds true, you can do it all in HTML editor except for the ability to view and use the libraries. You may be able to edit them though as they are just files similar to an include type file so it's all text. Just you won't be able to see the results as you work on it to know if what you did was right, you'll need to upload to see the results and to test it etc. But it should still be all doable in the HTML Editor :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
