I used both linux shared and windows shared as well as their dedicated when their virtual servers were taken off service (which was another blow). And for some reason, their Raid systems go bad every 3 years. I don't know what kind of Raid systems they use but it must be junk. I was with them for 6 years. And year after year, their service got worst. You can't even talk to anyone in the US.

You get better deals with http://www.1and1.com or http://www.ixwebhosting.com.

Domain name included and more bandwidth, disk space, etc.

Stay away from 1and1. Truly you get for what you pay. They are a German company with an office in Philly. Customer service is horrible and all their sites work off of GMT time...not local time. So its a headache when programming time sensitive code. All there level 1 customer support is contracted to India so communication is difficult. Their support staff in India know nothing technical.

Their servers go off line all the time with a lot of hardware failures. 3 of my sites went down for 2 months! TWO MONTHS. I lost so much money and business with these people. They only choose to comp 1 month. Poor business practices. For more info, search google for 1and1 complaints.

You can only renew your URL's one year at a time which is a real drag.

Avoid 1and1 at all possible!

You might want to check with Crosswinds. www.Crosswinds.net They have been my server for years and are really super helpful for beginners. They have a cadre of people who volunteer to help newbies or oldbies for that matter and have recently upgraded all their servers so the service is excellent. I have used them for 10 years and have gone with them through their totally free phase, then when they tried different things to keep going. They now charge for service but their personal service and interest in their customers is so good I will happily pay them.

Yes and I know a few thousand people who think that if your paying for a hosting service, and then you have to pay to talk to someone to get some advise or a little help would say that we might as well flush our money down the toilet.Coffeecup excluded,I wouldn't put it past a company to make it where something goes wrong, so people have to call so they can make their profit. I'm a very trusting guy huh! lol
Coffeecup has the best team of workers, user help, and the staff goes that extra mile when you need it, and you know what, IT'S FREE.
sorry I was just venting people!

Just throwing my 2 cents.

I've been using 1and1 for some time now for my personal site and I have no issues. GoDaddy we sometimes run into issues with getting them to setup the PHP correctly to use the form, but other then that nothing major.
