They are similar, however to use the CC HTML editor you need to learn the HTML language. (always a good thing to know).
CC's VSD (visual Site Designer) is for those who don't want to learn HTML or have fairly simple needs.

The best reason to use Dreamweaver is its integration with other Adobe tools such as Photoshop, Fireworks, and Illustrator.

Most people consider Dreamweaver the professional Studio choice as many developers can work on the same site at the same time over an office network.

It really depends on what you want to do. For an individual, CC software is just fine for building most sites.

Thanks for that mike. As i dont know what I am doing, the word professional when talking about deamweaver, sounds a bit scary. I have also been told to get adobe acrobat as I need a PDF converter. Although I currently have the document in Word and i noticed it appears to have an inbuilt pdf converter!

I dont want to learn HTML as i am having enough learning to do as it is! The reason I asked the question is, I already have the CC ftp software, so thought it would make it easier

Hiya Brian,

I would like to also suggest, as Mike did, the possibility of Coffeecup's Visual Site Designer if you're unfamiliar with HTML and would rather not deal with it much. Quite a large number of people are using that software and they love it and find it to be just what hits the spot in that situation. You can still input HTML with it should you need to, but most everything else is done visually rather than through code.

This would also open you up to a lot of support here as quite a few people using it are active members of the forums here and would be around to help should you need it.

Either way you decide to go, good luck on it and Happy New Year.

Correct, though you may not have installed the add-in for it yet. For Word 2007 you can get it here:

Brian,
Do you want to convert a word file to PDF or convert a PDF file to an editable format??

To convert TO PDF, just use MS Word.
To convert FROM a PDF file, don't bother with Acrobat, way overpriced. There are numerous solutions out there for less money.

Check out www.soliddocuments.com for one example of a converter.

Ok I have loaded CCVSD. I am trying to load an e-book which is currently on word. I thought I could cut and paste but I dont seem able to. When I press the right hand key instead of getting a pop up with copy etc as an option I just get a cross. Any ideas people?

Right chaps I have got a little bit further. I loaded my file into a websites folder in my documents. Now in Dreamweaver ( I watched a video ) one can then load that folder into Dreamweaver and work on it. For the life of me i cannot work out how to do that in coffee cup! Lets hope i dont have to spend $300!

Hiya Brian,

What type of file are you actually trying to load? And what exactly is it you want to do? Are you wanting to build a website, or just make a page to put some text on from an eBook? If you need assistance I or anyone I'm sure would be happy to assist you in making a website for you for much less than $300.00 (depending of course what it is you're actually planning to do) if you're not really wanting to learn how to code a site. Even using VSD it's not as easy as cut/copy and paste, and I guess if website building were that easy anyone and everyone could and would be doing it and I guess it's just not quite that easy hehe.

If you're looking to just find someone to help you make a site, or make a site for you, you can email me at spamnonymous@gmail.com (we can trade real email addresses from there) and I'll be glad to help you out for a small fee (we can work on the fee once we know what it is you need). Or you will most likely have to resign yourself to learning a bit of code and working with an HTML builder.

Coffeecup HTML Builder does pretty much what Dreamweaver does, with just a bit less features. It works with Projects the same as Dreamweaver, just each program has it's own way of doing things is all.

If you're just wanting a bit of guidance and not have someone help do it for you, then I guess we need a bit more info on what it is you actually want to do to know if you can do what you're expecting. :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
