Did I buy the visual editor on accident?
Hello to all....I am using Joomla (older version) for my website. I've owned the website 3 years and the Joomla version needs updating. However, the template I use needs an update to be able to update Joomla and I'm no longer a member or Rocketheme where I bought the template.
My wysiwyg editor has stopped working as well as the hyper link insert tool.
So, this morning I purchased the visual editor but now I am thinking I bought the wrong program. I thought I could build my articles in the visual editor, convert it to html and then install the html on my site. It doesn't appear this program works that way. It asks me for background colors, etc when my template has default settings for all of this.
What do you think? Thanks for any help you might steer my way.

I would have purchased the html editor instead. it has a visual component if you need it, but at least everything would be rendered in html.

Thank you. Maybe I can get them to exchange the program for me.
Hiya Vicki,
When you say "the older version" I'm going to assume 1.0? Either way though, there is an addon you can use called Joomla xplorer (named differently a bit between the versions) that allows you to edit any and all of the code right within Joomla and does a really good job of it. You can edit any and all files that way without an external program, it's well done to say the least and I used it for at least 2 years before coming back to HTML sites and now using a Wordpress blog site.
It's just an addon you can find in the Joomla extensions setup, just look for extplorer or xplorer and you should find it. the "ext.." is the new one I think, and the "x" is the old. I hope I got those right lol. Good luck on it either way you decide to go, and if it's still an external editor then yes I would suggest the HTML Editor also
