Ahh Per, not on firefox 4.0 on this little netbook I'm on. This one still has 3.6 version which is at .17 right now. Eventually I'll upgrade it, but at this time it's just not necessary. Other than that, yes 4.0 was released a couple weeks ago or so as no longer being beta, but it's still a choice if you want to upgrade to it or not and they are still releasing updates to the 3.6 version

I am very confused with VSD.
When I preview any of my sites in the in built browser, everything looks perfect. View it in IE or Firefox and it's all over the place. So I compensated in VSD to make it look correct in IE and Firefox. Surely I shouldn't need to do this.
If anyone can check, the sites I am most interested in getting viewed correct are
www.carrentalcouponsx.com
www.meatcostings.com
www.bradentonflo.com
But I read above it might just be my PC playing about???!

Hiya Stephen,
Make sure you are running the most recent version of VSD. I know there were issues with alignment stuff in the previous version that I believe they altered in the most recent one. If it's a different issue or you are running the most recent then we at least know it's not that.

Hi Jo
In fact everything formatted OK in the previous version it was only when I upgraded i noticed the problem!
I am using version 6 build 6, which I think is the latest version.

Hiya Again lol,
VSD is at version 7 build 24 now, has been 7 for a while. Sounds like you need to update it. Try that and see if that fixes the issues. The updates are always free so give it a shot

I should also mention that I have upgraded to both the latest version of IE and Firefox as well (both c**p updates IMHO) I thought HTML was supposed to be cross platform so why does IE give different results to Firefox? How does anyone write a website that works with every browser?
Very very carefully lol. Upgrade and let us know if that fixes your problems. Be sure to open your site and resave it again in the new version. Backup your files before hand so you have a copy of the originals before updating just in case of any issues, but you should be fine with the new build. The new build is geared more towards making the sites more cross browser friendly so let us know if it worked out for you or not

Thanks Jo
I upgraded and apart from a few installation issues things look fine now. (except they look bad because of the changes I made to make them look good!)
Does this mean I have to go through all my sites and recompile and reupload them again? (I don't really know why I am asking because I am sure the answer is yes.)
It's a bugger though because I had to add some HTML code which wont be in the VSD file
BTW As the <H1> tag seems so important why isn't it included in the VSD compile. This is the code I had to manually enter.

Stephen...you ask if it is right that you should have to adjust to different browsers. Welcome to the frustrating world of web design!!!
It is only in fairly recent times that browsers have begun to behave in a similar way interpreting the code to display on screen. However, there are still some differences which you have to allow for. The best that you can hope for is that the site you build looks very similar, and that any minor differences are acceptable.
Personally I have 5 different browsers installed so that I can check out my pages in each of them...
Opera, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer and Chrome. They seem to have the majority cover as far as user stats suggest. Check out the stats on W3C (http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp" class="bb-url"> http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp ) to see what I mean.

Stephen, just a small note for you
I had a you tube video on one of my VSD sites and the latest update in IE & Firefox threw my page all over the place.
I removed the video, and the problems went away
I replaced with CC video version of the video and all is well
Could be a possibility on your sites, so worth removing as a test

Started using CC VSD in January 2009, I don't do HTML code, Sales from CC site exceeding expectations taken me out of semi-retirement
