I use Coffee Cup IM, VSD, HTML Editor and FTP. They are all great! I tend not not to do things correctly-what ever works basically. Which gets me into trouble from time to time. Like now. (with VSD) I designed a new index page for my website-www.taowriter5000.com and FTP'd it up to my server at Yahoo. Two items, one file (index) and a folder with all of the images that make up the page FTP to the server nicely. Looking at file manager, they are parked right there with a slightly different name to keep it away from replacing the main index file. The existing index was NOT replaced the new index file and images. What is the customary procedure to replace the existing Index file with the new index and its image files. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and Seasons Greetings to all.

(An existing temporary older index file is up now because I crashed the main index during an upload yesterday)...black coffee please :)

Hi Mike - I'm with Yahoo also. What I've done when I want to change my site is first delete all my files from the server except the Index page. Just delete all the things that are on the actual page, not the Index file on the server. (example: I had a site built with Yahoo Sitebuilder. I had to open the Sitebuilder program and delete all the things on my home page then save/upload that blank page.) You want to end up with a blank Index file/page on the server, then you can upload your new site including your index.html.
One time I tried deleting the Index page from the server, then uploaded my new site. What a nightmare! The files were all there, but nothing would show. I don't know how I finally got that default Index back on there, but after I did and re-uploaded, all was fine. So whatever you do, don't lose the Index that Yahoo starts you off with!

Thanks Inger! I had to step away from the problem, have dinner and clear the mind. I came to the same conclusion as your instruction, which was right on the mark. The new index page is now up and lesson learned. All the best and thanks again for your kind suggestion.

Glad that worked out for you! Very interesting site.;)
Two suggestions (I hope you don't mind) - A main menu or at least a link to the home page on all pages would be nice, when there's so much to read, one can easily get "lost" in the site.
Keep the page width to a size that will fit within a large number of browsers so that horizontal scrolling is unnecessary (under 1000 px wide).

Good work there, getting all that organized! Will go back to read some more later

Nice site and great bike projects. Looks like your like me, keep taking on projects and have them all going at the same time and get none of them done. Iv'e got a 71 CB350 yelling at me to get her back together.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
