Hi,

Well i got my site up finally. Not that great, but not the worst for a 1st website. www.unioncitymarine.com
What i don't understand is how to get my website in with Google. I've looked over the Analytics section and i thought i followed it right but my info isn't coming up. And also on top of that I'm not exactly sure how to add keywords and such onto my page. I added them in the "Ctrl+Alt+K" box but when I search them on Google it still brings up the old sites links? See there was a completely different site someone made for this company and then quit, and the company wanted me to re make the whole thing. And seeing as this is my first time a little confused. I cant take off the old Google links and put the news on in it. I just don't know how.
Thanks and any help would be greatly appreciated!

How long has your site been up? It usually takes some days for the googlebots and other search engine bots to crawl through all the web and find new stuff.

As to key words, read this thread, especially the posts by Jim Cantrell: http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/website … post149474 . You will see that nyou probably have far too many of them.

Then check out the CC sitemapper, http://www.coffeecup.com/sitemapper/ . It has a built-in upload function to search engines.
Ha en riktig god dag!

Goto Google webmaster tools and implement a .htaccess file on your website. This will point google to the new site. I changed the domain of one of my websites and google index all the new content in just a few hours. I have one site that I didn't do it on and it took over 2 weeks. Google webmaster tools has all the instructions on how to do it.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Sweet. The old sites been up for years but i just putt he new one up about 2 AM this morning. And i added the script from Google (using VSD's Ctrl+Alt+G Analytics Code) about an hour n a half ago. I was expecting it to instantly work hahaha. I didn't think about how long it would take for Google's "Crawler" to search through the web.

Also, with VSD is all i have to do is add in the keywords to the "Alt+Ctrl+K box for keywords" for it to appear on Google's search engine? or do i have to go into my hosting provider and do it there? It sounds like all i have to do is put my keywords and description in on the "Keywords box" and if thats so then thats completely cool lol. And once i have my keywords in does it take some time for Google to pick up the new keywords and descriptions and such from my website? because as of now its still displaying the old site links and they are no longer there lol.

Thanks!

One thing you can do to alleviate the links that are no longer there is to go into your cPanel and do redirects for them to send them to the right locations until Google has caught up with the new site setup :)

Jo Ann i went into C Panel and tried to re link the old urls with the new ones but i cant figure it out. I talked to a person from my hosting provider about how to do it and they said to take down the .htaccess file and type redirect and everything in it. and change that out... but when i did that the whole home page went down (which i guess means i did it wrong, or he told me wrong one... prolly me)..

So i was gonna ask if any of you knew how i should do this? It aint gotta be a completely walk through or anything but any helps helps me.

Thanks :)

Hiya Kendrick,

When you go to your cpanel you should see the Redirects icon in the Domains section. Click that and it takes you to the redirect setup. You should see something that looks like this:

http://www.coffeecuphelp.com/jo/screenshots/redirect.png

1. can stay at 301,

2. pull down and choose your domain name in the dropdown

3. add the rest of the URL after the domain name to represent what you want to redirect

4. enter the full URL of the address you want the above URL redirected to.

5. I tend to leave it checked to redirect both ways.

click add and that should be it.
