Adding a Link Issue

This my first time trying to make/modify a website. I should emphasize "fist time". When I try to embed a link in text the text changes font properties. For example: The text changes from a solid color to an outlined type of font. When I preview the page the text is invisable until you roll the mouse over it. The link does work......if you could see it. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Well, then let us see it, we can't make suggestions without having seen the code. Give us the web address, or if it's not uploaded, post the code here.

And also, tell us which CC programme you use to build the site.

I just uploaded what I'm working on. The link I'm having difficulties with is on the "Pictures" tab.

I don't what "CC program is" I'm using Coffee VSD to put it together. Thanks.

I have used that template (tradnarrowboats in signature) before stream tab was added

I have a suspicion the template might not be correct

I would be tempted to save what you have done so far, and then start another project using the template, and try all the tabs before doing anything at all to it, seems strange that tab changes from pictures to stream at some point

and normally you would keep same size heading (banner) for all pages and same background , but yours seem to have bits of white background missing, and different size banners not sure it was your intention

What color have you chosen for your hyperlinks? I'm thinking it could be white. :)

You will have a different color option for text, and for hyperlinks. Can't remember where the options are though.

Bren is right, your links are set to white.:)

Settings/ Standard settings for new pages.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Bren's on to it. In VSD go to standard settings for all pages. It looks like you have white for links with blue when active/clicked. So the white link won't show on a white background. Here's what you can do to get around that – click on shapes, make a rectangle and fill with white. In Object Properties > Button text, type your link text in whatever color you want. Make this a link and replace your current link with this. Now it will look like text on your white background.

You could also use the Buttonize feature to have the link change color when active.

This way, none of your other links (in white) will be affected.

Yay, I got something right. Do I get a medal now, for helping someone else for a change? :D

Glad you have the experts to help you further with this Dave. Good luck with your site, and great job for your first time. :)

Thanks all, Bren nailed it and Eric gave the right directions to get it right. Thanks all for your advice.

Dave

PS. The pages are sorta screwed up as Viv noted. I think it is because I've added in the banner to each page rather than copy the original.

I'm trying to revamp www.chesapeakeflyers.com because I'm sick of the way it looks. Once I get it all straightened out I'll upload and remove whats up there now. Even though VSD is for novice's there is still a learning curve. I was trying to manipulate the existing page using Joomla....... which I'm sure is easy if you know what you are doing.......Thanks again!

You'll get there Dave. I can see some of your pages are a work in progress, and you'll get them right in no time.

You can add margin bars onto the page, and then the buttons, banners etc that you are working will snap to the bar to make them align properly. Then you can make sure the margin bar is at the same height on each page, and or others will have other suggestions to keep your pages in alignment. Some suggest building the first page, then copy & paste the whole contents over to the next page, and just delete out what you don't need. :)

Great start!
