Good discussions and examples. I'd like to use WAM for returning users so that by logging in, their billing and shipping information will automatically populate. Suggestions?

Hiya Squarefinger,

WAM is not a login system, it's a file/page/folder access protection setup that alters the htaccess file telling the server who to let access a page and who not to basically. Other than that there is no connection to the pages or scripts themselves that allows any actual "login" persay that people can connect to any accounts at all. You would need a more robust set of scripts to accommodate your needs if you need it to acutally be a login setup.

Hi everyone I am new to CC. Just a simple question. Will WAM be the program to use if I was building a website for someone and I wanted to set up a log in for the person to view a sample of their website?

It's not a login program but it will allow you to protect the folder that the test website is in. If you link to the folder you will need to enter the password and user name to view it.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hiya MsTani,

As Eric already mentioned, WAM would work great for what you're trying to do. Another even better option (this protects your work so clients cannot take it without paying for it or paying the full price for your work) is to take screenshots of the site and post them on a page or however many pages you need to show them the site. This keeps them from stealing the code, images, etc. and all the rest of your hard work without paying for it. Not that every client does this mind you, but trust me and I'm sure many others that have been stiffed on a site after they worked on it already, it's good protection and screenshots can do justice for many things :)

You're quite welcome, I've been learning from the forums here about that stuff over the years too hehe, finally get to pass on some of that wisdom that was given to me and others :)

Another thing to consider before you purchase - your hosting plan. I finally got WAM a few months ago, then discovered this:

.htaccess (Hypertext Access)
The name .htaccess refers to the main configuration file for Apache, a popular open-source HTTP server. The .htaccess file can be used to create custom error pages and web page redirects, set up password protection, enable SSI, and more. Yahoo! does not currently allow you to upload .htaccess files to your account. For other customization options, we recommend the Custom Error Pages and password-protection features available in your Web Hosting Control Panel.

Will it be possible to use WAM on S-Drive sites?
