No idea what to tell you there Nicoletta,
I would suggest opening a support ticket with CC and seeing if the CC Team can help you sort that all out.
You can open a support ticket by doing the following:
Go to the top right of the website here
Click account then Your Support Room
Start support topic and ask the same question there.

STOR /public_html/.htpasswd
553 Prohibited file name: /public_html/.htpasswd
What does it mean?

Who are you hosting with?
What this looks like is that WAM is trying to upload or update the .htpasswd file on the server, but the server is not letting it be stored. It may be that your host prohibits this type of protection. I've never run into that, but wouldn't put it past them.
Found this on another forum...
Problem solved. Server was using Pure-FTPd for file transfer. In confgiguration there was
ProhibitDotfilesWrite yes
ProhibitDotfilesRead yes
So after changing it to
ProhibitDotfilesWrite no
ProhibitDotfilesRead no
it worked.

I would check with your HOST and make sure they do not prohibit dotfiles such as .htpasswd or .htaccess
Let us know what out find out please.

Also, just got to ask...you did test the compatibility while setting up WAM? This insures that your server does meet APACHE server type. WAM does not work on windows servers.

I have been discussing this with Nicoletta in support and it was never a problem with Access Manager. The account that they are using is out of disk space and it cannot write or even delete files off the server. Basically it is locked.
