WFB doesn't work if TMP folder has...

After installation , when I start Web Form Builder, I get this error

Cannot find 'file://D:/TMP//FormBuilder/form_builder.html'

I have previously redfined my TMP folder from the C: drive to the D: drive. Seems that causes a problem.

If I uninstall, redefine TMP back to C: and reinstall, Web Form Builder works OK.

Any ideas ?

Tony

Is there a problem with having it on drive C?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Rolly,

As with me, organizational preference. As a long time Linux systems administrator, it very bad practice having anything except the OS on the OS partition. Unless you have really large partition or really small application pool and can push temp files off the OS partition it is a failure waiting to happen. Fill up the OS drive with a rouge program writing stuff out and you've got problems. One of the many shortcoming withing Winders... I now avoid using drive letters if I can, I mount other partitions as my home dir, temp dirs, etc...

Tony, not sure what OS your running, but you should be able to "mount" that partition where you want it. That might keep that form happening. --Mitch

Hi Rolly,

Yes because my C: drive ( System OS) is a SSD.

I'm using Windows 7 and my C: drive is around 200 GB. My D: drive is 2 TB. I don't want to be clogging my C: drive with Temporary files.

The thing that baffles me is that the Program is even looking for this file in 'file://D:/TMP//FormBuilder/form_builder.html' Folder

Surely it shouldn't be looking for a file it needs in a folder named TMP ?

Got any ideas ?

Cheers,
Tony

OK I resolved the problem

The environment variables TEMP and TMP needed to be defined as D:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Temp where username is your login name

Seems what I was trying to use, D:\Temp doesn't work. Either W7 or Form Builder doesn't like it. My suspicion is W7. Damn permissions :)
