Got a new computer and transferred all my files over from old one which had web form builder version 83 on it. I'm upgrading a site for a client who wants his form altered so I go and open up the form in wfb on my new machine and find that I can't, instead I'm directed and encouraged to get the latest wfb at a download price of $69, the previous one was $39. Fair enough I was quite prepared to upgrade my wfb and after having a look at the trial version decided that I would be just as well to go ahead and get the full version. How wrong can you be, as far as I can see the old version was far superior to the "new" one. So far I've found that form fields and the like can't be placed exactly as you want them, there is no re-set button and the captcha element is horrible to look at and too big, that's only three quick gripes I have about it so far, I'm sure I'll come across more from what seems to be a very backword step from something that was easy to use, very user friendly and created beautiful forms.
Hi Alan,
I understand that it appears that the new form builder is a step backwards, but once you get your hands dirty you'll find it to be a master piece. You can use regular expression in place of the Captcha. Works slick and makes for more options. The one thing you might not know was how many iphone users were you getting on the flash version? I can tell you it was zero. The new form builder is adaptive so it will auto resize to the users viewing device. This is the new standard in webdesign so the new form builder is 1000 times better then the old flash version ever thought to be. I think once you get use to the interface you'll be pleased with what you can do.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

What Eric says is correct. Once you get used to how things work, you will totally appreciate all it can do. Not only does it have more features, the form works on all mobile and tablet devices. How cool is that!
I do have to comment on the RESET button. To me, that is the worst form element every designed. Have you ever gone to a form and filled it out and then decided "Hey, that was fun, I want to reset the entire form so I can do it again! Yippee!!!.
Instead, would you just not correct any fields you want changed?
However, because this form is in HTML, you can add anything you like to it. So if you want a reset button, just add the HTML code to the form itself next to the submit button. Here is the markup:
<input type="reset" value="Reset!">
Everything is very configurable and what you may think you have lost, you actually have gained so much more.
If you do not like the industry standard reCAPTCHA, use Regular Expressions instead. You could make it so you can ask a simple math question like "What is 2+4" and only allow the number 6 to be entered. You could do the same with words or other phrases. By making that field required, it prevents BOTS from filling out your form.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I understand that forms should be viewable in all the different devices we have these days, I guess I'm just getting over the shock of the difference between old and new but I'm still a bit frustrated especially as the site that I'm doing is quite large with lots of graphic content, the guy makes neckties etc., and I'm almost done with it so to find that I need to learn a new gizmo at this stage is a blow.

If you need pointers, post a link to the form you are trying to make Alan and I can offer some suggestions/tips.

Thanks Scott,
Your right in what you say, especially as to the reset button, I must start focussing on the new. Can you or anyone let me know of any tutorials I could access to help me along the way.

Thanks again Scott I'll take you up on that but not tonight it's getting a little late here. I'm in Scotland so need to wind up for the day.
I just received email from you that there is a Feb Form Builder upgrade. I cannot locate instructions on how to upgrade, only how to purchase and download trial version. Please advise asap.

Hiya Anita,
Did you check your purchases to download the upgrade? To do that you need to go here:
To download your purchased software.
Mouse over the menu in the top right by your name and choose Your Purchases. Scroll down past the programs that you haven't purchased yet till you get to the section of the software you have purchased. You should see the program you want to download listed there if you have purchased the full version. Click the download and install it, and once it's finished installing you're all set to go

Jo Ann,
Thank you for prompt response and this is just what I needed. I scrolled all around that page and totally missed the download button at the bottom.
Best wishes,
Anita
