Trouble with custom SMTP settings in WFB

One of my clients has started to use MS365 outlook for secure SMTP sending of emails.
I have plugged all the pertinent info into the user.cfg.php file as instructed by Coffeecup tech support but I am getting
SMTP connection errors all the time.

So after three days of tinkering and not getting any real help from coffeecup, I have tried other SMTP services to make sure
that it is not MS365 causing the issue.

Well, I am getting the same SMTP connection errors with all of them, which leads me to believe that the script provided is flawed somehow.

I am at the end of my wits and I am hoping that somewhere on this forum is a person who know more about this than I do.
I would really, really appreciate your help solving this mystery, cause my only other option at this point is to switch to a plugin based form service which I would hate to do.

Thanks
Mike

If you have the latest version of WFB, the scripts should be correct. The best support tech at CC is on holiday right now, but he will take a look at your problem when he is back - unless you get some help here in the forum, that is.

What error are you getting? Is this in the submission window or the error log on the server?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Thanks for the comments so far.

Yes, I am using the newest version of WFB.
The error I am getting is a SMTP login error when the script tries to log into MS365 with the correct SMTP settings in the user.cfg.php entered.

For comparison purposes I used the SMTP settings for GMAIL servers as well and got the same type of error.
That lead me to believe there is a problem with the script.

Haven't heard back from CC in 48 hrs.

In my post from yesterday I told you that the support technician is on holday. I'm not quite sure when his holiday is over, but when he is back, there will first and foremost be his regular work that he has to see about. He will not drop any of that to start debugging someone's mail server issues or creating custom scripts. That will have to wait until and if he gets some time.

As to
That lead me to believe there is a problem with the script.
:
CC has sold over 20.000 copies of WFB, and if there had been something wrong with the scripts, you can rest assured that they would have had masses of complaints already, and also indeed corrected it. The cfg.php is written so as to be used with most mail servers, but CC don't say anywhere that they pretend to have solved each and every thinkable SMTP issue.

Since this is about MS Outlook, have you tried to ask their support?

Look on the server to see if there's an error.log file
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Eric, there is an error log file repeating the same conflict over and over:

[13-Aug-2020 00:34:26 UTC] PHP Deprecated: __autoload() is deprecated, use spl_autoload_register() instead in /home/xxxx/public_html/wp-content/test/fbapp/php/config.inc.php on line 64

Inger:

"He will not drop any of that to start debugging someone's mail server issues or creating custom scripts. That will have to wait until and if he gets some time."

I did NOT indicate in any way shape or form that somebody should drop anything to fix my mail server issues.
If that answer is the kind of customer service your company is aspiring to, all I can say is "WOW" - how low can you go.

I think I have voiced a legitimate concern that a script that was given to me by CC support is not working the way it should. As previously said, I tried this script with TWO different SMTP servers (gmail and microsoft) so we are not talking a fringe server in somebodies basement - and both rejected the script.
I then downloaded a script from a different source, entered the same logins and both of them worked fine.
So it takes no Sherlock Holmes to deduct that there is a glitch somewhere.
Maybe it's just a line of code, maybe something else.
That's why I dared to ask CC support for help.
Is that too much to ask for you??

It seems that two completely understandable (and related) mistakes have arisen -

1. That Inger is part of the staff or proprietors of the CoffeeCup business, rather than a
fellow user who has spent many years freely helping other users.

2. That the problem script was one one incorporated in the over 20,000 copies of WFB sold, rather than a script provided by the CoffeeCup tech support team. The CoffeeCup tech support would have known this, but fellow users learned this by the latest post.
