Text field label shown in email...

Hi, I have noticed that the text field label is shown in the email confirmation instead of the field name. We are using the field labels to help our clients filling out the form, but we need the field names in the confirmation for processing the input. Has anyone come across this before? Is there a workaround? Thanks for your reply.

Change your label to match your variable name.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Hi Eric, thanks for the suggestion, but that is not going to work. The clients filling out the form are Dutch and the output is in English/Italian. Do you know why the label is used in the output? Is this a (small) bug in the program?

The label is in the confirmation. You can post your data to a csv or mysql and those will be the variables.

That's correct. We are currently testing a reservation procedure with a new form, so for now we use the email confirmations. We will change this to csv or mysql in the future. I was just curious why the label shows up in the email.

Other than special characters, can't you type it in Dutch ( or at least some semblance of it) in the labels? Since the label fields are all editable for the most part it shouldn't be too difficult to make it recognizable I would think. Unless I'm not understanding the issue here that is :P

Hi Jo Ann, we are using this particular form for clients that want to book a transfer from the airport to/from their hotel. Clients have to supply data such as flight number, airport, destination hotel etc. The output of the form is emailed directly to an Italian taxi firm, so they need to be able to understand the output. All form fields have an Italian-English field name, but with the text labels this is overruled by the field label (which is in Dutch to help the client).
An obvious workaround would be to skip the field labels and put that content in a separate plain text field.

This might sound like a crazy work around, depending on how long the form actually is it should work though:

When you see the email reply and responses which you can edit, they have a default setup for the form results. You can delete that setup in the email and create your own manually using HTML. To do this you would then choose each field manually from the dropdown menu to add it to the email setup inputting it on a line yourself using the <br> for breaks and such for each line. Style them how you want to etc. Then what you can do is put in Parenthesis the Italian name for that field also, right next to that Dutch form field from the dropdown. This would show both names instead of just the Dutch to the Italian readers, but the visitors would still only see the Dutch. Works in my mind anyways :)

Interesting suggestion, but the form would at least need to be final (and we are not there yet). And, you are right, length is an issue with already 25 fields. I will work on it during the weekend.

Yeah, get the form built to completion so you know that every single element you need is in there, all your labels are named correctly etc. and then start working on the email templates in the settings so you have all the fields in the dropdown. Good luck on it and ask if you have any more issues you need some suggestions for. :)
