When I try to open the newest Form builder I get an error message in a pop up box. See Below...
Any ideas? The program worked fine for about 2 days and then would no longer open...

Error:
System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory.
This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

What you are describing sounds like a bad install. What I would like you to first do is uninstall the version you have now and then download the software again from our website. To download any registered software or to download any free upgrades, please go to My Products from within your account. Once the software list appears, click the "download" button next to the software you wish to install.

Hopefully this has fixed your issue. If it does not, then we need to get our hands a bit more dirty.

Follow these steps:

1. Uninstall the software.

2. You will need to visit this site (http://www.ccleaner.com/), and download the free version by following the download links, then install it onto your computer. Now you will need to run the application and select the Registry tool on the left, then scan for issues. Next you will need to click "Fix selected issues" and do not back up the changes to the registry. Then click on the option to fix all selected issues.

3. Reboot

4. Repeat step 2 to make sure all issues were fixed. If new issues were found, reboot one more time.

Now we need to make sure .NET is installed:

1. First, uninstall all versions of .NET from highest to lowest

2. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=21 and download dotNetFx35setup.exe and install it.

3. Reboot.

Now we are going to clear out all Windows Temp files:

Windows XP: Go to the Start Menu > Run and type %TEMP% and hit enter. I want you to select all the files and delete them. You may get a warning on one or two files that you cannot delete them, but that is ok.

Windows Vista/7: Go to the Start Menu and in the white box type %TEMP% and hit enter. I want you to select all the files and delete them. You may get a warning on one or two files that you cannot delete them, but that is ok.

Now it's time to re-install the software

1. To download any registered software or to download any free upgrades, please go to My Products from within your account. Once the software list appears, click the "download" button next to the software you wish to install.

2. Install Web Form Builder

With any luck, you should now be good to go! :)

Try doing a search on your pc for the settings file and delete it.
CoffeeCup Web Form Builder\settings
Also update to the newest version.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Did you do the instructions posted by Scott? The one thing I would also do is uninstall then manual do a search for web form builder and delete any files to make sure there all cleaned out. Then run cc cleaner and reinstall the app.

I had the same problem yesterday and spent some time fixing it by following the full instructions posted by Scott.

Today the software worked perfectly until I closed it and then opened a bit later to update a form, now the problem has returned.

Not happy :(

Is there a bug in the software?

I would suggest is that you report this to CC rather than just here on the forums. Although the staff of CC does peruse the forums, it's not guaranteed that they will see every post that is attempting to report a bug. Always best to put in a support topic to make sure they get the information and can confirm the bug or help you work out what's possibly wrong on your end. Good luck on it. :)

I have been experiencing this Access Violation Error since the day after I signed up and installed Web Form Builder. In desperation, I reinstalled Win7 pro 32 bit onto a fresh HD and within several days, same problem. I tried every supposed fix without success. I then installed Win 7 pro 64bit onto a fresh HD and it worked fine for several days. Each time I installed a new application I checked WFB for correct performance before installing another application. I rebooted after every installation. I then decided to stop installing and just open WFB, add a button, save, test, and then add another button and so on. I even re-booted between edits. Then, after around 10 edits, the dreaded Access Violation Error. I uninstalled everything one at a time until there was only WFB left. I have followed Scott's suggested fix at least 4 times unsuccessfully. I'm now sure that it is a software error and hope that CC address this issue quickly and put out the fix. If anyone know's the fix, please share it with me as I can't use the purchased package and I feel dudded along with the many other WFB's customers.

Hiya Roy,

Have you opened a support topic with CC for this? If not I would highly suggest you do so as they would be able to assist you better with this than the users on the forum can. Good luck with it and do let us know what the problem was if you would so future forum users/searchers can benefit from your experience. :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
