Is there a method of having the current date come up on the Date Picker automatically ?

You can use some php or js to fill in the current date depending on where your form is hosted.

Hi Eric,
I host my form on my own file server.
Would appreciate if you could assist me in adding the current system date into the date field without the user having to select it form the Date Picker pop up.
Obviously i still want the Date Picker pop up accessible in case they want to change to a different date.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I am using the Date Magical Element, ie the Date Picker just to clarify.

Your input is named with an upper case D (Date)
Try changing it to date or change it in the script to Date.
