Reading from a CSV or database - Post...

Can we use WFB to read in data from a file or database, set the ones necessary as read only which are not allowed to be altered, and other data fields to be r/w? It looks like WFB is a write only form, but I'm new to using this, so hopefully I'm overlooking something.

But rather to skid in sideways, totally used up and worn out,
Shouting '... MAN, WHAT A RIDE !'

You would have to alter the form after export to pull data from a database and prefill inputs or display data back to the user.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Here's what I'm looking for....
I manage a soccer league. I would like to have a form for reporting information back to me.
Ideally - Someone enters the date then it populates all venues that day. They pick a venue and it populates all time slots. They pick a time and it populates Home and Visitor Teams.
They then enter scores in separate boxes Home v Visitor.
Also text boxes for referee to report red cards, yellow cards and other info
it then sends me an email with this info and logs it into a DB - either mine or SDrive?

Do-able?? How do I do the reading and populate data part. Already doing the email and DB part.
Thanks!

Hi Charlie,
This type of thing can only be done with a non-S-Drive host. It can be done with csv's but a better way is through databases. I just helped another user with connecting a form to a database and have dynamic dropdowns..
You say you have the database and email part done? What does that mean? Did you write some custom scripts to do this? Maybe if you share a link to your form we can better understand your needs.

I created this page that brings up team schedules
http://www.pvisl.com/schedules/index.html

Here's the form I've been using.
http://pvislreports.coffeecup.com/forms … port_2020/

I want it to auto-populate based on Date, then Venue, then time, then teams.
Then ref fills in data and it emails me a report and writes to S-Drive or populates my own DB.

Then I was thinking that I can use my schedule page and put a link on each game that they can click on to auto-populate a form for sending info?

You want the Referee Report form to auto populate on the date based on what? User selection current date?
How will the week number play into this?

really don't need week number - going to rely on date.

Here's my train of thought.....
Referee picks a date which looks up and shows page wit all the venues for that date
Then he selects the venue he reffed at.
This then shows/presents a page with all games at being played a that venue on that day.
Then he/she selects the game which brings up the report form
Maybe multiple check boxes for 2 to 3 games (as they usually ref more then 1 game) and submit which goes to a ref form.

How about having all of that information available on the same page.
Ref picks date.
A dropdown is populated with the venues on that date.
Then ref picks venu and that populates a dropdown with games.
You may want to have them submit a separate report for each game so data is easier to keep track of.

Just making suggestions. I'm not totally sure on the outcome needed.

That can work, however....
I liked the CC forms as its mobile phone friendly and I formatted it so when they select 1 game only 1 form appears. Selecting 2, 3, or 4 they can submit all on the same form. I set up S-Drive to record everything and my email form to send everything. Other plus is that it emails multiple people in our League that have to receive reports. Don't remember if I set it up as through Google Group Email or direct in CC WFB? Just looked and it's to ref_report@pvisl.com so must be Google Group distribution.

PS - this was my old form using formprocessorpro to do the back end stuff - wasn't mobile friendly so I went to WFB
