Quick PayPal form question

I am going to set up a form to all club members to register for an event. The form will include various information about parking preferences and fees, RV hook ups, date of arrival, etc., as well as the total registration fee. I'll then place a PayPal button on it to receive payment.

When a member completes the form and goes to PayPal and makes the payment, will I receive all the information included on the form or just the information about the payment. (In other words many fields will not be related to money, just information. Will I get that information also?)

Thanks,

Galen

Yes you should get some information based on the field that the payment is activated on. Check this example out

Don't worry the paypal function is not activated yet. Fill out the form and when you hit submit you will see what will be passed into paypal. I believe it's the element name + Title of the field it was in.

Hope this helps.

What you'll typically want to do with pretty much any payment form via the CC Form builder, and quite a few others that don't connect to databases to store info, is to match up the PayPal email with the Email you get from your form. This is the best way to be sure that your visitors actually "did" pay the payment and not cancel out after getting to PayPal.

Treat it similar to matching up Purchase orders with actual Payments for those orders and you'll be fine.

The reason for this is because the form will not be connected in any way to PayPal itself, so it doesn't have the ability to tell you if the person followed through with the actual payment. It can only tell you that someone ordered/payed for something, but cannot assure you that the transaction completed so matching up those 2 emails will be a good practice so you don't give someone something they really didn't pay for. :)

So, if I get this right. A separate email can be sent to the receiver of the payment (I'll make it the same email address as the PayPal user).

That separate email will contain all the information collected on the form. And the email from PayPal will show the amount paid for and the item, but not all the other information. Right????

Thanks,

The email you get from the form will have all the fields they answered on the form on it so you pretty much know what will be on that as you made the form right? :P

The email you get from PayPal will have the name, address, etc. on it also so you can easily match it up to the email the form sent and compare the information so you know they go together. The only information that you will not get from PayPal for sure is their payment information. You may or may not get a telephone number depending on your PayPal setup. Otherwise you'll get everything you need to know which product they purchased, who they are etc. Should work pretty slick for you. :)
