Currently on checkbox if you define two check boxes and you check three or one or none it does not throw up the error message.

am I missing something?

Do you have that element set to required? You probably do, but I have to ask the obvious as you didn't say so

Only one radio button, but any number of check boxes may be OK...

I just opened the program and there is a setting for the check boxes that has a default of 0 (zero) in it. You need to change that number to the number of check boxes you are requiring to be checked and that should fix that issue for you.
