File no longer opens after update to...

A form I built last night and had working properly will suddenly no longer open after upgrading to Build 5217.

I get an error message stating "Problems initializing open file menu: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at FormBuilder.FormMain.fileToolStripMenuItem_DropDownOpening(Object sender, EventArgs e)

I get this same error whether I try to use the File drop down menu for "Open", "Open recent" or the folder icon.

Any ideas how I can get my form back?

Do you still have the previous version of the form builder?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hi Eric,

Thanks, had thought of that. Reverted back to the 5205 build and still get the same error message! :(

Really frustrating as I have had to re-build this form once already since previous .xml versions of Web Form Builder documents could not be converted into .fb files

Arrrgghhh!!

Okay, here's another strange thing I have just discovered.

I've been successful opening a second form I created the same night. The last element I added to the form was a "number" element. When I now open this second form I can no longer edit that number element - even with the previous build version installed! All the other elements function fine. It is very difficult to select the number element, and when I finally do it is not highlighted in grey and the only property shown is the label - which I also can not change!

When I then attempt to open the first file again, I get the same error message as shown below, and I noticed that the "number" element with all its issues is still shown on the right hand box.

I can't attach the files for this issue as they are too large, but I can post them to someone if they want to have a look into them.

Thanks!

Quick question, um, are you running as administrator? Try right clicking the icon and select 'Run as Administrator' from the drop down.

Not sure why but a lot of cc programs do funny things, or don't work at all, if you do not run as admin. Just a thought...

Thanks Gunsmoke.

Had seen a similar comment in another thread so I've already changed that bit.
Running as Administrator, but alas no joy.

Have you opened a support ticket on this?

Tried google and found a lot of information dealing with C and VB compiling. Also refrenced .NET and SQL.

If this form was working one night, then not the next, did anything else change on your computer? Did you get any Windows updates? What version of windows are you running? Does your form store info to a database? Just some things to look at.

Couple of things... I would open a support ticket and see what the cc gurus say. You might also try re-creating the form from scratch and see if you can save and re-open the new form. It may just be that the 'saved' copy was corrupted.

Ummmm....I massage dogs....I have NO idea what all that says! :P

I'll open a support ticket. I noticed something about Windows and a script workaround, but have no idea what this means either. I've checked the previously uploaded version of the file on the web and it no longer appears. Checked on both my PC an my phone. All the other web pages DO work.

The CC Gurus will be able to walk you through the proper steps to get your system working again. Something has gotten out of line. Post back when you get an answer.:)
