Email Notices using Email Address...

Hi everyone,

We came across a situation where we wanted to send the filled in form by email to two addresses, both of which were entered on to the form. The drop down lists in the email notice configuration window only ever allow one selection, and the contact list option only allows predefined email addresses.

We tried to use an email address field (that will be validated as an email address) and insert that field ( i.e. [email1]) into any of the to, cc or bcc fields of the notification message, but we just get the error that it doesn't contain a properly formatted email address. But the email1 field is an email address field.

I've attached a screenshot.

Should this work? Or is there a reason why it doesn't work?

Thanks,
Tim

That you cannot do Tim. The TO, CC and BCC always have to be an email address. Only the From and Reply-To can be an element name

OK. But the contact list option uses an element name in these fields, but email address field elements are a no go.

Is there a reason? Might this be possible in an update?

Thanks for such a quick response.

The contact list is different and that not used in the BCC.

Just out of curiosity Scott, simply because I've never tried it lol...

Is it possible to add more than one working Contact List element. Haven't ever tried (never had anyone request it actually lol).

Other than that the only way you can use multiple addresses is just to put the email addresses themselves into the email address field in the settings, but that would be a permanent thing that every email address listed would get the email always rather than choices from your users.

Now you could do a "semi- work-around" in that you could use Google's email service to create a business setup, then create some groups there with some sets of emails that you figure go together, and use the group email addresses in the Contact List drop down. This would still be sort of preset, but there would be a few more possible choices that way.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
