Can I do this?

My project is to put a form on a web page that can be used to post information in text boxes, check boxes and dates. The information can be changed and up dated by a user. The user must have a password and be able to update the form from their own computer. People viewing the form can only read the form and will not need to change or post to it (read only). I will put forms on multiple pages of a web site. Not sure but the form pages may also need to be password protected. I will host this on my own servers along with the web sites I now host.
Can anyone outline how I might be able to do this?

I did something along those lines. It is not too difficult but does require you to learn some basic php. The things that need to be addressed is:
A sql database or flat file system to hold the data and those that fill in a membership form. You have to consider verification of the person via email and respond to their return to check their authenticity
Getting the information in is the easy part and WFB will do that for you.
You need a registration form again WFB will do this for you
An admin area to manage it all.
The index.html can direct people to the correct processor ie Enter registration set the session and direct to the page that extracts the info from the database and presents it to the person to change. There will be a ton of support files to write.
Once a person has signed in only then will they be allowed to modify their data.

The closest I can think that could be a solution is a guest book script that could perhaps be modified so that a persons profile is the form data. This way most of the php processing files would be there with a minimum of alteration.

Once you have data you can populate a form page You would have to create this then your submit would send to the action file of the post for that page. with the new data you would rewrite the data held in the database. Which is almost like a profile in a guest book that is why I suggested that option

Hello again,
Been working on my project again with the Guest Book idea. I have all the links working. I can fill out my test guest book form and submit it. It then gets posted to the streams. I put a link on a page from my web site to the streams. I see each result but there is not any of the information from the forum boxes posted. Any ideas why?
Thanks, Tom

Did you set up your form with [comments] in the body notification message.:)

It might not be [comments] for your form. It might be [notes] or any of the other elements you have on the form.
You place each of the named elements into the notification body from the "insert data from" drop down.
then you can place <br /> to separate them.
