Scott,

Is there any particular reason why a second email cannot be added manually to the "To:" line

You can add as many as you like. Just separate them with a comma.

me@me.com,you@you.com

but you can't. The "To:" line in the Auto-Response section is only populated with a [email] tag or other form element tag (name) and it will only allow one tag. At least I can only get it to work that way.

.....and like I have said several times, when Web Form Builder first was released you could do that, add additional names and I was so thankful I even wrote thanking you guys (see the first post) yet somehow it got lost in future updates.

Yes, that is how it should be. Why would a secondary person want to get an auto-responder? That is simply used to let the person who filled out your form know that it was received. You should add the second person's address to the TO field under the Notification message instead.

We changed that because it really doesn't make sense to send a copy of the auto-responder to a secondary email address. I don't see why you would even want to do such a thing. ;)

I've tried to explain that several times. I have been asking for this for probably a year. It is a requirement I am facing on one of my websites (see above). Why would you change something like that when it was there and really not a problem the way it was? Just curious.

Thanks Scott,

David B.

At least I know I wasn't losing my mind when I wrote the kudos to the team (above) on December 2nd. I was beginning to think I was getting old-timers!

Basically for the reason I mentioned. It makes no sense to send a copy of an auto-response message to a second address. The auto-response is used to let the person who fills out the form know that the message was received. I just don't see a real world example why a secondary person would want to receive the auto-response message each time a form is filled out. I would think they would prefer to know what information was actually submitted.

So to answer your question then, this is how the software works (and should work) and I don't see it getting changed anytime in the near future unless someone can make a very good case for why it should be changed. ;)

Fair enough.

Guess I wonder what is a "very good case" when it comes to putting something back that was originally there? Did you read the above message at 10:42 am for the reason I am needing it?

Even Jo Ann said she could see how possibly that could be of use. It seems strange that AFTER I post a comment on how wonderful it is to finally have this option....it is removed.

Oh well, enough of beating the dead horse.

Thanks

What you are describing is exactly what I am saying you should do. You don't want the auto-response message, you want the email notice instead. I just don't see how that feature is useful enough to be included even if it was at one time in the distant past. ;)
