Web Calendar size options

Hi,

I've bought the flash calendar and the only thing annoying is the fact that we can't size the calendar for our needs unless we edit the XML file and even then, it is very limited. In future versions, I would like to see the option to size the calendar with pixels sizes instead of small, medium and large. That way everyone would have a calendar to fit their needs. We should be able to size all the fonts (month, day names, etc...)

Thank you for the suggestions.

I believe the developers are looking into adding these in a future version. I'll pass this along just in case.

PLEASE put another 'tick' by this request for me.

The size of the calendar itself isn't too much of an issue for me, but the size of the fonts....whew...some of us don't have the eyes we did as young'ens'. The font size on the event details dialog can't be more than 8pts. Thats VERY hard to read for those of us over 40...even closer to 50 :)

Joe, if you know a little html you can edit the size of the fonts on the calendar event window. Let's see if I can find my earlier post on this to save me some typing:

How to hack the font size issue (because it's just too dang small!!):

You can do this by editing the code with standard html (or close to it). The bad news is, the html code takes up character spaces in the drop down "preview" when you hover the mouse over a date.

When you add an event, try something like this:
This is my event <font size="4"> this is bigger font</font>

The reason I suggest placing some unformatted text first is so that it will be the text seen in the drop down window when the mouse hovers over a date. Unfortunately, that unformatted text will appear small in the event window.

If you use something like:
<font size="4" face="Arial" color="#FF6600">This is my formatted event font</font>
You will not have anything at all show up on the preview window because all the formatting will have taken the space of the characters. If I ever figure out how to get around that, I will let you all know.

Keep the code handy in a snippet, or a small text file in your working folder. When you update the calendar, it will not keep this code and you will have to type it in again. Unfortunately, you will need to add this code to all of your events. If you have a lot of events, it can be a pain. With just a couple of events each month, it becomes a habbit to code them this way and goes pretty fast.

changing the number for the font size will change the size of the font. Bigger numbers mean bigger font. You can change the color code I used in the second example to whatever color you want your font. I think you can even use standard color names like "green" or "red" if you are not sure about color codes.

Thanks Cliff.

Personally, I have no problem doing HTML/XML/java/C++/.....

The only reason I choose CoffeeCup though, was so I could have Web neophytes do their own updating to the site. If I have to start telling them how to make changes to the display beyond "click and type", then I might as well go with a complete CMS package with far more capabilities.

It seems to me that this was just an over-site. Really, how can you create a basic RTF editor and not include even basic font sizing?

I really think there hasn't been enough sales of the Calendar builder for any fires to be lit under the developers to get this fixed.....perhaps though, its a chicken and egg thing?

Balancing features and functions is something we try to monitor closely. Everyone wants something different. When we created this program we took the features everyone asked for. Surprisingly the one thing you are asking for was never part of any list.

Someday we will get it in there I am sure.

I stand corrected.

Scott, none the less this needs to be addressed. Quickly! I just bought the software today and am already looking at other options so the client can edit the calendar without all the emails and phone calls.

Here's one that I might but http://activeden.net/item/xml-event-cal … view/19849

That other web calendar you posted looks cool . . . but has NO FEATURES AT ALL ?!?!?

sure it looks cool, but you cant automatically add all holidays, repeat events, etc, etc, etc . . . and if you look at the functionality of the other products they have (namely the drop-down menu, and dock image menu) they are very poor and not smooth. (and I can easily explain why if asked...)

I enjoy the look and feel of Coffee Cup's web calendar . . . however there are needs for improvements . . . and I hope CC will promplty address these concerns and release updated versions in the future . . .

cheers.
