Strange Upload to Server Problem...

This is too strange... On the left of the attachment, you see the contents of the hard drive folder that Web Calendar currently uses to "export" the calendar.

On the right is the structure of files that are uploaded to the server as Web Calendar does a "publish" of the calendar files following the successful "export".

Web Calendar "Preview" works fine and reflects the calendar well.

However when you go the URL that reflects the uploaded calendar files, default "calendar.html" isn't there, even though you saw it earlier in the "export" sub-directory and it's no where to be found on the server.

If you only copied calendar.html to the server (left window to right), the calendar still would not function.

If you copied the calendar folder AND calendar.html from the left window to right (your hard drive to the server), voila - the calendar runs fine. The calendar even runs fine after you delete every file on the right hand side (server side) EXCEPT the calendar folder AND calendar.html

So wow... what's going on with my Web Calendar? I use CC FTP to copy the export folder up to the server and it works fine however, the Web Calendar "publish" feature appears to be screwed. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software to no avail.

Thoughts anyone ???

Calendar works for me. That appears to be your calendar html generated by the program. Did you insert the script into a page? Also make sure you don't name a page on your site the same thing as the program will overwrite it if it's in the same directory.

If you look at the site again, you'll see the result of having removed what was there and having used Web Calendar's "publish". It didn't do such a hot job... The attachment shows what it left.

So your saying it's publishing to the wrong folder?

Or are you saying it's not uploading all the files and you had to manually upload some of them?

I'm saying that the program is handling an 'export' completely different than a 'publish' and that it's exporting just fine but not publishing worth a darn.

If you look at the webcal2.jpg, you can see the left hand side which is my HDD that Web Calendar exported to. Looks great and works fine.

When you look at the right hand side which is the 'publish' ed side, an all together different array of file structure exists.

Knowing what I know now, I can use an FTP client to upload the 'export' folder from my HDD and be just fine BUT it does make a person wonder what's up with the 'publish' aspect of the program.

Did you try clearing everything out and republishing?

Yes indeed... I've emptied the target HDD folder, cleared out the server folder, uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled Web Calendar. All I can think of is that the uninstall wasn't totally clean so the re-install was impacted. Now that I have the work around (not trying to 'publish' and instead using an FTP client), I won't spend a ton of time on it but it's good to know about and curious as heck. Just the fact that it 'exports' in a different fashion from how it does 'publish' is both, curious and interesting.
