Absolutely right

My own humble opinion. I am not 'graphics' oriented at all. I have little artist ability. But I do like a good picture. I have looked at several 'stock photo' sites and found prices from $1 to $40. Personally, I would pay a buck for a picture I want to use. I would not pay $40. Ever. Having said that, there are a lot of sites that sell various rights. I do not like having to add 'credit' tags for photos, but I like it a lot better than high prices. I understand you have to make a living, and this will add to it. Ok. If it were me, I'd charge a buck or two for the photo and require them to post a 'credit link' if used on-line. No printing. Or a higher fee of $5-$20, depending on the photo, to use with no link-back.
I wish I could remember where I saw it, but in one of these forums there was a link to a useful site that let you track your photos and try to find where they were being used on the internet.
Anyone help out with that?
That would let you 'search' for your photos and try to keep a handle on compliance.

Maybe you're thinking of this post by Janys Hyde: http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/website … post129398
I seem to remember having seen the same link mentioned again more recently, but couldn't find it now...

So when you use that service and find that I have a picture on my website that you believe is yours, then what? I ignore you after you email me threatening legal action. You're where you are and I'm where I am. How much money will you spend make a lawyer richer to defend your honor? Just asking.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!
Per...yes, I did link that one again recently. Thanks for pulling it out.
Tom... I agree totally and that is one of the reasons I continue to say that it is best not to put anything on line that you want to keep to yourself. There is always the risk and I have quite enough stress and problems in my everyday life without having to worry myself as well over any pictures someone might nick.

Imitation being one of the higher forms of flattery, it may still be interesting to know if/where your pictures are being used... I certainly wouldn't 'worry' about it, nor consider any legal action!

Per...I agree, but so far, using Tineye I have only found images posted by myself in other places!
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
