What I am up to right now... - Post...
Well...some of you knew that last year I got involved in a local Arts' Festival...first edition...
And here we go again...so I am trying to get all the participating artists' details sorted out on the blog, and then when I have collected all the data, I will properly launch the web site. This is all happening in September so time is pretty tight what with folks going off on holidays and so on. I am also supposed to be taking some photographs (or pulling out old ones) for a small show of my own stuff...but that is being shelved for the time being.
You can keep an eye on our progress

This was last year's effort:
http://festivaldellearti2010.blogspot.com/
and this will eventually be the web site:
http://www.festivaldelleartigiudecca.org/
We are doing all this without any sponsorship from anyone, although the local authorities have promised to help us out with some printing of flyers and the use of a few municipality spaces. So all the work...and the artists are in on a voluntary basis. A major achievement when you think that we are about 15 to 20 different non-profit associations and there will be some 100 artists taking part.
Meanwhile I have just signed myself up for a university course on Creative Writing - another step towards my arts degree (although it could become sciences if the technology credits outweigh the arts ones!!!)
So what are you guys up to in your "spare time" over the summer???

Hi Janys. It sounds like you have been very busy. I am just stopping in to see what's up. I have finished 1 year of college and still have 2 more years to go. I got married a couple weeks ago and I work for the summer months as an IT tech for a downtown building. Good luck with the arts or sciences, whichever wins out.

Hey...congratulations on the marriage. My very best wishes to you both.
I had a break from university but when I got wind of the price increases I thought I would pick up where I left off...for those doing continuing studies we are guaranteed a price freeze for a little longer. Not that I will be getting anywhere fast trying to study and work at the same time. It's a long haul with lots of distractions along the way! This Festival has me pretty busy until September, though my husband and I hope to get away for a motorbike trip late August for a few days...weather permitting! He's been adding a windshield and a motor shield bar too, and now we have to learn to pack real minimal with so little luggage space!

Well, as for me, I'm trying to recover as best I can after my hospitalization. That means taking walks, and the longest one I've taken so far is 3 km down to the shop and 3 km back again. For the time being I'm not allowed driving, so walking is what I'm doing.
I'm also reading up on htm5 and css3, and pondering over a new design for one of the sites I'm involved in.

A very good way to spend your time getting into html5 and css3. I started to also experiment with html5 and css3 but have not gotten very far yet as life became a bit too busy, hoping to get back into it soon. How are you enjoying html5 and css3? From what I have been busy with html5 does not feel too difficult, css3 a bit more complicated and needs some getting used to.

I am just trickling into HTML5 by using the CC Editor html5 code for now to gradually see what is different. As AviD says... that looks like the easy part. I had considered delving more seriously into css3 but then this blog and site was dropped into my lap again and I find myself totally involved with the event organization too. Lots of fun but very time consuming running after all the artists and locations to get some input. Maybe I can just get myself a book for now and dip into that occasionally...do you think that would be worthwhile Inger?
Yeah, I also find the html5 bit fairly easy, and then I try coming to terms with css3, which is a tad more complicated, but not impossible. But I'm in no rush, so I just let it sink in, gradually.
I'm reading a book I bought from Sitepoint. It's called 'HTML5 and CSS3 for the real world'.

I'll take a look...
A few months back when I was in Amazon looking to buy the books, most of what seemed interesting still had to be released. Maybe now is the time to go back and see what has appeared on the market.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
