Virtualization software for linux.. -...
I'm currently running linux (OpenSUSE) and I'm wondering about something...I want to run Windows (Yes, a legit copy...thing cost me $345...) but I want to virtualize it on my Linux distro. Does anybody know of a good app that will get the job done for me?
You can also dual boot both OS's without any other software.
Like Tom said, you can also dual-boot. I've been juggling between doing both, dual-boot & VM. As cool as VMs are, I just can't ditch running a true Windows entirely as there's definitely a hit in performance having two OSes sharing resources and the emulated hardware/drivers turning a good Geforce into a wimpy SVGA card. As far as I know, Mac's the only OS that has 3D hardware supported in their virtualization software so far (Parallels & VMware Fusion).
I might give VirtualBox (http://www.virtualbox.org/) another try. They've had a lot of updates since I checked it out and I read Sun Microsystems is going to acquire the company. I just hope it stays free.
I have been using Linux for a couple of years now and have used
VirtualBox for quite a while now with very few problems.
Thanks mike for the reply. I am also planning to use virtual box. Could you please provide me more details of it.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the reply Tom. I had done that dual boo with both the OS and found disappointed. I had heard about Vmware.i dont have a clear vision of it. Please provide me more details.
Thanks in advance,
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
