Am a huge supporter of Linux,..and Ubuntu,..and recommended the Wubi software installer to many. I thought it was great for a new user,..and installed Ubuntu as a program file in windows. Ubuntu is really great, but my Wubi installs stopped working after upgrades so after repairing it 3 times, I made my Ubuntu installation standalone. A wish for Wubi developers would be to offer upgrades as Ubuntu versions change. For someone just wanting to play with Linux for a short period, Wubi is ok though, but not for anyone wanting to use Linux for a long time.

Good to know. I've got a Dell mini that came with Linux/Ubuntu (love it!). Just read an article about "reviving" an old laptop by removing Win. XP and installing Linux/Ubuntu on it. I'm tempted to try this out on an old Dell laptop I haven't used in several years. Is it going to be a pain in the @$$ to get Ubuntu installed? (I've never done this before :P)

Ubuntu is one of the easiest of the Linux distros to install. The only problem you might have is getting the drivers for a wireless card working, but they have software like ndiswrapper. I'd say that would be the biggest hurdle.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

The past few installs over the last 6 months, the wireless installed perfect out of the box(:)) otherwise ndiswrapper is the best way fer sure.
