Well we can't really be surprised that this has been brought up... I think most of us feel like it's just a matter of time.

They've been trying to figure out a system for online sales tax in the US for years. I'm guessing this is going to come soon. Nothing changes though, since all you good Americans already declare and pay this sales tax like you're supposed to, right? ;)

It will be interesting to see how this gets administrated. Are retailers going to get to hold the tax fee for a month and get to collect interest from it?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I was totally gobsmacked (good British expression to convey surprise) when I learned that taxes weren't already collected! We pay 20% on or offline on most stuff...I bought a book the other day from Amazon uk and then noticed an up in price at the checkout which had nothing to do with delivery. I contacted them and was told that the uk had no sales tax on books, but that we in Italy have 4%.

Our system here has to be one of the worst and highest in the world IMHO, but somewhere in the middle seems a fairly reasonable way to pick up taxes. I'd like to see less taxes taken from my income, and more on sales tax. At least that way if I don't want to buy, I don't pay the taxes! We lose almost half our income in taxation...and then we still have to pay value added tax on any purchases we make.

Oh well, one definitely needs to take into consideration of the source of that article too. Although I don't doubt that there is something in the works, I do doubt the accuracy of the report since it's Fox News and extremely skewed to the Republican view. Personally I don't think News sources should be able to skew news, it should be like it "used" to be, totally unbiased reporting. Don't know what happened to that system, but it's obviously gone the byway the past few years or so.

Anyways, check the facts (I haven't yet myself lol) to make sure the report is accurate since it's a very one sided news source. :)

I haven't done a lot of cross checking myself Jo Ann, but I had heard that this was in the works before I saw this posting. And while I agree with you that news sources should be unbiased, I'd disagree that they ever had been ;)
