Cliff,

You may be right. Since migrating to our new system we have more capabilities than ever before. We have been focusing on customers that purchased our software and that we have not heard from in a while, that also were still "opted-in" to receive our newsletter. It sounds like your father (and Mr. Lane) fall into this category.

At any rate, we want to help our users as much as we can while respecting their requests about receiving email from us. We never want to send email to anyone that doesn't want to receive it. That's spam and just bad business.

Thanks for your comments above, we appreciate your support.

Under further investigation it looks like the email address that you feel is being spammed was used to buy software on May 16th, 2006. The software was purchased with a credit card that has your name on it and the account even has a registered support ticket attached to it.

I would like to thank Coffee Cup staff for their replies.

I would also like to tender my apologies to forum readers and staff, as this appears to be an honest mistake on my part. I did indeed purchase MP3 Rip-and-Burn as mentioned in another post.

With this in mind, and considering Coffee Cup's excellent response, I have removed the block against their domain from my own mail system. As for some other posts, well... Let's just say I have better ways I choose to spend my time than making responses to pointless and childish taunts.

Now, with this said -- I don't believe it's wise for any company to simply send any type of "newsletter" or other advertising when there has been no contact for two or more years, as there obviously was in my case. I think a much better approach would have been to send a query, saying something like "Hey, we haven't heard from you in a while. Are you still interested in our products?"

If there's no reply, then do nothing and send nothing more. If the interest is there, the customer will reply on their own.

My thanks again to Coffee Cup, and my apologies again for a big mistake on my part.
