I "was" able to get some CC programs to run under Wine on my one Linux computer, but unfortunately the new HTML Ed. is not one that will work. It installs fine, but comes up with a memory addressing error.
Living the dream, stocking the cream

+1 for an Ubuntu version of CoffeeCup; and I would pay (just as I did on Windoze).
And surely that's the point -- a large number of developers have moved to Linux but we are just the same people. If developers are happy to pay the (ahem, quite modest) cost for CoffeeCup -- what stops people being prepared to pay just because they have the common sense to use Ubuntu or similar?
And it does not have to be open source. I almost always install binaries anyway even if I know the source code is available. I suspect the vast majority of converts from Windoze do the same.
So c'mon guys -- you know Ubuntu is coffee coloured (forgive UK spelling) so that's half the battle won already.

Edit: Just noticed an entry here (currently gives just a 404 error) but does that mean...?

I have almost 3 years in Linux... Started with Ubuntu and moved 2 years ago to LinuxMint where
Im very happy...
Of course like most of you guys moving from windows need some good tool to continue
with our web development... mainly web editors...
It seems coffecup does not have the intention to come out with a Linux version ( and maybe their
argument is valid), but if they want to support their custumers moving to Linux and why
no new Linux users... why dont make some adjustments for us run coffecup in WINE....
Some other made changes so we can enjoy our windows application in Linux... so the software I
use right now for my Web Development is:
Notepad++ : free
WeBuilder : you must paid for it $69.85
Hope in the future we can see Coffecup at least in WINE....

As I have stated in the forums before.. I to would vote for HTML editor at the very least for Linux. I have been using Unix/Linux for 20+ years now. Coffee cup for many as well.. To show how long... I used the original Linux version of Coffee Cup for many years... I had it, I used it I loved it..... They did it before.. they could do it again... In fact when they stopped support I quit any association with Coffee Cup for a while. I was very disappointed. I understand the economic issues involved, but there are a lot of commercial companies who have dual ports and make money.. Also Open Source does not always equate to no cost..... --Mitch

I think if that philosophy changes, you would see more companies developing software for Linux.

I currently use Coffeecup on my linux box with virtual machine running windows xp with no worries.(duel boot) I'm guessing some of the protection for pirating CC is much of the windows software is loaded with viruses from 'share sites', but of course on linux, most of that would be gone so people could pirate CC indiscriminately.
