Hi all, hope all is well, nothing of...
I am posting just to spill whats on my mind.
Back in 1996 when coffeecup was just getting started. I was pretty heavily into making web sites and doing photoshop art and what nots. I Purchased the full boat package back then, Everything that they had to offer at the time, may have been one of the first people to do so for all I know..
Well My emails the same as it always was. I got an email one of many from coffee cup over the years, and decided to click on it and log in to my account amazingly enough I remembered the password.
I am still very heavy into my Photoshop art, and decided today that all my arts great but no one see's it sitting on my 2 TB backup drive. I decided to get a small personal webspace to build a little website and photoshop photo album. I went out and got a little domain name and space and downloaded coffee cup and came to the suddenly realize...
I don't remember the first thing about writing HTML or creating a website anymore, I used to make them in notepad by hand back in the day but that was years ago... i cant remember what i ate for lunch these days, hehe.
Now I am contemplating if i really wanna spend god knows how long relearning everything old and learning the new or just pay someone to get the basic layout I want..
HTML is defiantly not like riding a bike, well .. maybe it is but after 12 years i may forget how to ride a bike too lol.
anyway, i will bury my face in it tomorrow see if it comes back to me at all if not, i may have to bug some of my friends to help me out.

James why not download a free trial VSD wysiwyg, unlike 12 years ago it works
Oh and a licensed version gives you FREE hosting, no need to host elsewhere and pay

I don't need the trial VSD I have the full version. When I got the everything in one big package it was part of it and still is 8). It just crashes when I launch it. Have to sort that out too.
I have an idea what I want to do.
Basically I want a blog like front end with a small link to the sites web mail for people who get their mail from my domain. Then I'll have links to various businesses I run, those will also be blog like pages. A link to portfolio type photo album for my art work, and lastly a forum for use by friends and clients.
That's just to get it off the ground. from there I will learn again.
I am thinking a php site with phpbb forums. Just not sure how deep i want to travel down that rabbit hole.

Try reinstalling it, sounds like something didn't install correctly. Make sure to install it with the Run as Administrator command on the right click menu also. Windows 7 is stupid in it's security as it's extremely oversecure as far as I'm concerned.
Right click over the download and choose Run as Administrator on the menu and it should then install properly.
Definitely open a ticket if it still doesn't work right.
You may also need to set the program to Run as Admin by right clicking the shortcut that runs the program after you reinstall it. Choose properties, go to the Compatibility tab and check the box for Run as Administrator and save it. Then you will not have to do the right click and Run as Admin each time.
Hope that helps and let us know

I got it working now. I am kinda lost in it. It feels cumbersome and clumsy, while the drag and drop features fine and all, I find it difficult to find the simplest of tasks like font color and fonts. Changing text into links and other little issues. I am sure its just a "not used to it issue" well some of it anyway.
Personally i feel they really should have the ability to see the code as well, maybe i am just not seeing it.
Drag and drop is great but your really don't learn anything, and the transition from visual site to html editor is more like a wall if you cant get an understanding what you are doing when you place something on the drag and drop code wise.
They should make a merged product with three tabs on the HTML editor. One tab drag and drop, one tab code one tap preview.
Old school Netscape communicator was like that years ago. You learned as you built and figured out new ways of doing the same tasks with less code.
Shrug, still plugging away at it.

Hiya James,
Although it's not a 3 tab system, you can hit F12 at any time to open the Preview window and you can keep it open while you're working and F12 is a toggle so it will turn it off too so that's pretty easy to do for that part.
Do keep in mind that the visual and code tabs are not meant to be used together so hopefully you have chosen one and are sticking with it if you're working with the HTML Editor. I was under the impression you were talking about VSD not HTML Editor so if that's not the case then... nevermind

Well I am kinda intermediate. I used to be really heavly into it, I had a major site for the times (70k+ hits a week) about a game hosted on Geocities way back when. Never got the chance to pull the site off before they crashed and burned.
I will give an example as to why I wanted to look at the code.
I was messing about made a page from a template. Got it the way I wanted it, Uploaded it. it looked fine in chome. On IE it was showing one of the tabs as the background. I Thought i had deleted all the tabs. and in VSD it was not there. But I deleted my files and reloaded the site in IE, same thing.
I ended up going the old note pad route and found 2 of the tabs where still referenced in the code even though I had removed them. I manually removed the code and all was well.
My point about the three tabs was for either/or. Dragging and dropping to build a websites convenient and nice and all that. But If you only know drag and drop, How can you resolve issues or glitches that may come up?
I don't know if you ever worked with communicator, but to this day I feel it was one of the best or easiest builder to learn from.
You had three tabs one raw code.
One was a visual essentually drag and drop enviornment, you could set up your website and every element of the site was right clickable to get properties add links or change table properties etc.
The last one was a preview window.
So when you make changes you see what you are changing giving you a better understanding how the code effects the view.
I guess it does not matter really. Most websites run Cascading style sheets for layout now and that's a major difference from years ago.
I am getting it again but my heads throbbing! I spent 8 hours building graphics in photoshop till i got something i was happy with. I think my eyes are stuck crossed now.
