Well i just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who's helped me. From teaching me how to upload, organize, add things on, get in with Google, and even price my work. I got payed today 25 an hour (thanks to yall's recommended help) its cheaper than most around here, but it satisfies me! Also on top of the nice pay check, I've established with him the fee for future boat pictures and upload to the site. And even on top of that I'm making my own site to hopefully bring me a few other local small business that are wanting a cheap website. And a bonus on that is that I wont have to pay for the site hosting because my dad has a domain name for his photography website that is completely empty because he uses another online photo website to hold and organize all his data and link it to that domain name. The one downside is that I don't have my own domain name, but a plus on top of that is that everyone visiting his photography website will see the link to my website and maybe bring business too.

Too sum all that mumbo jumbo up:
1. I got payed
2. I set up a business with him
3. I'm making my own site
4. I get a free domain name to host my site on
5. I don't have the advantage of having my own domain name
6. Thank you to all that have helped me along my way.... and will doubtlessly help me along in the future

Kendrick, Check with your dads host. I'm with BlueHost and can do addon domains for $10.00.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

See i was just going to open an account with Hostdime.com for 5 bucks a month for 1 domain. But he made a website Years ago with godaddy.com and never used it but kept paying for it. Then a few years ago he found this picture website that does everything but it doesn't give you a domain name, it give you a name after its website name. But he linked that name to his domain name with Godaddy.com and so it all appears on the domain name he bought but all the data is on the other site.... and what I was thinking is that I could add a button on his website and upload all my data to the domain and link them like hes done. so that when someone wanted my site they would go to www.masonhallphoto.com and click my link and hen it would be something like www.masonhallphoto.com/webdesign......

Are you saying i can buy a domain name for 10 bucks? Will that domain name share the space with his other site on godaddy.com ? Or would i have to pay more for the data space?

Hiya Kendrick,

The domain name is a separate entity from the hosting space so if you wanted a domain name of your own you would purchase it and have it redirect to your site's location. Not sure how you would set it up for directly accessing the site, but I do know you can redirect them to sub domains of other web domains like hosting it on your fathers.

You might want to consider looking for a reasonable hosting service to use for future websites that you build for people though. Many people want their own space so that if something happens with your dads space (not that it will) that they don't lose their site too. It's not a typical thing to put someones website on someone else's domain unless it's a favor to someone. Not usually what you do for paying customers. You just charge them to accommodate for the hosting fee and domain name too if they need one. Just some food for thought :)

Grats on the new site and paycheck!

lol thx Jo Ann... But i think you miss understood me. Everyone else's sites will be given there own domain name and space on a different hosting provider. I was saying that My website for people to view would be on my dads domain name. but if i could purchase a separate domain name and link it to his site, and use his space, that would be wonderful so that my website would be hosted off of his but with my own domain name.

Most hosts that you get will provide you with a domain name for a very resonable price. If you get a domain name WITHOUT the host, it is usually very expensive. I would venture to say more than the monthly fee the host will charge.

Check out 1and1.com. I have my site with them and I only pay $4 a month, including the domain name. The minimum you can do is 6 months. MOst host are one year.

The people above are around the cheapest for domain names, and newbie friendly control panel you will find very easy to use

Also has option to point your NEW domain name at your fathers hosted account, either framed or unframed.

If you select FRAMED, in the address bar will be displayed your NEW domain name, rather than your fathers.

And you can add your own meta tags etc, for google, yahoo etc.

So choose new domain name carefully for local clients, IE websitedesignerorangecounty.com, if you hapen to want work mainly in Orange County USA
